This was a completely enjoyable stay. Convenient access for hiking to Crawford Path, Avalon Trail, Willard Trail, Mizpah Hut, and others. Great tasty selections (including vegetarian) for dinner and breakfast, with a family dining setup that encourages discussion with new friends. I stayed in a six-person bunk room in the main lodge with convenient (10-step) access to the shared bathroom... More

We stopped in for dinner and sampled this nice family-style culinary experience. The atmosphere reminded me of an Ivy League dining hall. The food was plentiful and the service was charming. Everyone there, even the other guests, treated us like family. The best part was the blueberry cheesecake dessert!

While participating in the Mount Washington observatory seek the peak benefit fundraiser, I needed a place to stay. Since it was last minute, I was lucky enough to find accommodations at the Highland Center in Crawford Notch. Specifically, I stayed at their bunkhouse known as the Shapleigh bunkhouse. Rates were the cheapest in the area and the accommodations were satisfactory.... More

We ended up staying three nights at the Highlands Lodge, one night on either end of our three day hike, and an extra night that was unplanned for when the weather turned. The LL Bean flannel sheets are cozy and the staff are friendly. Awesome play structure outside for the kids! The center also offers a unique service: you can... More

This was my third time staying at the center, twice in the bunkhouse and once in lodge. It's a great place to unwind and rest between hiking days. The dinners are affordable if you book them with the stay and everything is more affordable if you are an AMC member. It's a shared experience a lot of people are not... More

I came up for a hiking weekend and this was the perfect base camp. My favorite things about it: 1. The location. I didn't get in my car the whole weekend, tons of hikes right outside the door. 2. The staff. Everyone was helpful and gracious and kind. 3. The LLBean Gear Room. I needed snow shoes in May and... More

This is a great, family friendly, outdoor friendly lodge that serves a great base camp for an outdoor experience. There are many great hikes into the fabulous white mountains outside your door step. It is staffed by an enthusiastic, young minded, outdoorsy crew. The lodge offers free LLbean gear to borrow, an extensive selection from snow shoes to rain gear... More

Ambience:I have stayed here twice, this week and one year ago. The setting is super. The facility is beautiful for a conference center. It seems new. Although it is a "hut" for Appalachian Mountain Club, it is carpeted throughout, is very clean and has a good staff. Meals: The food is very good, but pricey for lunch. Example: Salad bar,... More

A group of friends and I have stayed at the Lodge several times. Some in the group are A-OK with sleeping outdoors under the stars, others prefer luxury accommodations. This is a perfect compromise that pleases everyone and the 6 person bunk room allows a goofy group of old friends to escape and reconnect with one another The location couldn't... More
