Like your college dorm room, including the overheated rooms. We had to open the window to cool it down and get some circulation. My room was two bunk beds crammed into a small space, even with only three of us, very challenging to move around, it would only serve for sleeping. It was clean, though, as was the communal bathroom... More

I've been here many times throughout my life. My love for the great outdoors started here inNH when I was about 4-5 years old. As I got older i got to explore more and more that NH had to offer in this area during all seasons. Due to my travel with the military I hadn't been here in several years... More

Great food and an chance to meet great people from all over the world! When school groups are in attendance some of the facility is not available for everyone's use. Beautiful site year round for hikers, skiers, or just enjoy the mountain views. Mattresses are not thick but certainly better than camping on the ground or a cot.

The first time I stayed here I had a private room. I made a last minute reservation this time and ended up in a 6 person bunk room. I figured anything was bearable for 1 night. It was actually not as bad as I thought it might be. The main issue with the room was the lack of shelf space,... More

What a great landing spot for us during our NH adventure. We were hiking for two days in the pouring rain before arriving at the Highland Center for our two day reservation at the Shapleigh House. How fortunate for us that we could make use of the LL Bean gear room for our one full day at Crawford Notch! All... More

Not that easy to get to as no GPS. This is a great venue to experience the White Mountains and see New England in the fall. Great location for touring. Accommodation is very basic but food is great. Staff very helpful

Comfortable, great staff, good food. We stayed in the main lodge and were very happy with everything. Not a 5 star hotel but it makes no pretense of that. If you want that the Mt Washington resort is your place. If you want to connect with nature the Highland lodge is yours. The children's playground is great.

The Center delivers what it promises. The gear room was excellent and Bill was helpful. It was great to have a clean, private bunkroom (4 of us) and a hot shower. Bedding was great. My kids used the ping pong room, which we didn't know about so it was a bonus. The 4 course dinner was a good meal that... More

This is a great place to stay if you are planning to hike in the area. The staff were knowledgeable and happy to help. There are several sleeping options including private rooms, semi-private with shared baths and bunk rooms. There is a common area with comfortable seating which is a good place to meet other hikers. The breakfast was delicious... More

This was a completely enjoyable stay. Convenient access for hiking to Crawford Path, Avalon Trail, Willard Trail, Mizpah Hut, and others. Great tasty selections (including vegetarian) for dinner and breakfast, with a family dining setup that encourages discussion with new friends. I stayed in a six-person bunk room in the main lodge with convenient (10-step) access to the shared bathroom... More
