My husband and I returned to the Highland Center a few weeks ago. On past trips, we’ve stayed in both private rooms with private bath and those with shared bath. We prefer the shared bath accommodations for their lower cost/better value, but this time all were booked so we took a room with a queen bed, two bunks, and private... More

While not inexpensive given the bunkroom accommodations, the lodge is very convenient whether you are starting or ending your hike here. In my case my daughter and I were ending a Presidential Traverse that had started 13 hours and 20 miles earlier in Gorham, NH on the north side of the Presidential Range. Since we had left our car at... More

Watch out for handicap room #307. Double bed is fine but the bunk beds are children sized. Didn't sleep at all. Pillows could use some work too. Solid meals and helpful staff. Sick views. It just sometimes feels like AMC is in over their heads on managing this place. All the furnishing are totally random, rooms are apportioned with almost... More

Being a lodge with bunk facilities, I had my expectations set in the camping experiences of my youth. This lodge was far above my youthful bunking experiences. I was on the second floor and believe my room was 210. I arrived very late so was tip-toeing around in the dark, trying not to wake others. The room had two sets... More

Stayed here with my friends after Presidential Traverse trip. Great place to rest up from hiking activity, since it provides most of the modern amenities that huts in White Mts don't provide (hot shower, comfortable beds). Also, I liked the price for what I was getting which included buffet for dinner and breakfast. It looked like it had a game... More

The Highland Center, operated by the Appalachian Mountain Club, is a lodge that offers meals, outdoor activities including guided nature walks, bunk rooms and private rooms. The accommodations are somewhat spartan, but provide everything you need after a day of hiking. The Center also has a gear room provided by LL Bean where guests can borrow everything from a backpack... More

Another rainy weekend in the mountains, and it was awesome to be able to borrow LL Bean gear for free at the AMC Highland Center. Hiking boots and rain pants for everyone, including my 3 year old and 7 year old. The food is only fair (but plentiful), and the lodgings are sparse and rooms small, but more than adequate.... More

Years ago I stayed in the AMC huts but now prefer some creature comforts. I wasn't familiar with the Lodge at Crawford Notch and was pleasantly surprised to have an option of a very comfortable room with private bath. Fee includes buffet style breakfast and dinner, which were excellent. Usual traditional breakfast offerings and an excellent choice of fresh fruits... More

The Highland Center is a wonderful facility located near Bretton Woods ski area, the Appalachian Trail, and in the middle of NH's mountains. Run by the AMC, the people are friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms are large with private bathrooms (some) or you can select the bunk option. Unlike Pinkham Notch, the center has a liquor license so you have... More

We stayed there for a Road Scholars program during the last week of February 2014 and it was wonderful! Our room was a private with a queen bed and a private bath. The view from Room 303 was of Mount Washington Hotel surrounded by the mountains. Bedding was flannel sheets from L.L. Bean. Bathroom area had a large counter top,... More
