The Pioneer Garden Country Inn is off the beaten path. In fact, to get there, you drive off the highway and go until the pavement ends and then turn right and go 3 more miles.... I picked this country inn because it sounded interesting and it was, just not the kind of interesting I thought it would be. It is... More

If you think television and wifi are essential elements of a good vacation, and if you faint at the sight of a daddy-longlegs, this is not the place for you. But if you enjoy a quiet setting, the beauty of nature, the sound of songbirds, dark star-filled skies, searching for fossils (and finding them), visiting old mining towns and historic... More

Thanks to all who have reviewed this property with both enthusiasm and candor. Without your stories, we would still be speeding along Highway 80, stopping at "no tell motels" when exhaustion dictated and never experiencing the unique pleasures of Unionville and the Old Pioneer Garden Country Inn. A dusty historic homestead in the high desert isn't going to be everyone's... More

After we saw the pictures in the WEB we dicided to stay for two days - after beeing there we don't want to go! We startet in the nice Small house (Cottage). It was very nice to at all these old things in the houses. And all the Books! The nature around with animals like sheeps, cows, chicken and goats,... More

Having seen pictures on the internet, we had to take a closer look and visit this Inn. It was a little more remote than we had planned, but turned out to be a wonderful visit. We stayed in the Hadley House with our pick of the upstairs bedrooms. We wondered up the road and viewed the other facilities available and... More

we really enjoyed the privacy of this place. We were here in the late spring and the creek behind the house was running and babblling. We loved the serene quietness in the evening and morning hours. The Jones' prepared a wonderful dinner and a wonderful breakfast. Bring your family and friends as there is plenty of room.

We arrived to this exceptionally remote location to find no one around, and our first vision was a dog in the bed of a truck that was caged in. Proper signage might have kept us from seeing that, but I think I would rather know the strange things in back driveways! The rooms were all unlocked, and our door even... More

I have often wondered, when I drive through the desert, who or what is up there in the small green cracks of the faraway hills? One answer is the Old Pioneer Garden Country Inn. It looks like it was once a sheep or cattle ranch, there is a history of Basque sheep-herding in the area. There is a creek running... More

Based on the descriptions of the Old Pioneer Garden Inn as a bed & breakfast, my wife had a mental picture of a quaint country inn with bedrooms upstairs. The best way to describe this is not as a B&B; as the sign on the fence says it's a guest ranch. We arrived around 8:30 p.m. & the owner, Dave,... More

It was hard to decide to write this review, as I want to keep this little gem of a secret all to myself! On a whim, we drove from Reno to Unionville (about a 3 hour trip) on a Sunday afternoon after seeing an article about it in the Reno Gazette Journal. We arrived at the inn unannounced and were...
