On a lark, we drove on from Kirkwood to check out Virginia City, intrigued by the picture and description of the inn on Hotels.com. Breakfast seems to have improved since the 2005 reviews: creative, unusual tastes -- hot barley cereal and a french toasted croissant. Portions still small, Leisa says out of respect for the local restaurant owners, but delicious.... more

My husband and I drove up to this B&B on a Friday evening just before dark. Virginia City is a pretty hokey place - full of tacky tourism and historical significance to say nothing of a fabulous setting. Edith Palmer's was fabulous - perched at the top of the town so you could look out down the mountain - beautiful. Quaint little Inn. Very comfortable. The rooms are beautiful. We go to Virginia City every year for New Years Eve. We used to stay in the RV park, but now we are going to stay at Edith Palmer's Country Inn every year. We felt very welcomed by the hostess and she was more than helpful with anything we needed.
