My husband and I stayed in one of the historic rooms over Halloween weekend. We were made to feel like family. One of the most magnificent sunrises you will ever see. Quiet, comfortable, next door to the best cafe in town. EXTREMELY CLEAN and considerate. This motel made our stay perfect. The owners provide a fun, secure atmosphere that we... more

We really enjoyed our stay at SugarLoaf Mountain Motel. The owners Jim and Michelle were Great, very accommodating and fun. The rooms are very clean and cozy. There is a little store on the property, free parking, and excellent views! There is also a very good restaurant next door (the Cafe Del Rio). All of this in close proximity to... more

The first thing we noticed was how clean the room was. The owners are very nice and accommodating. When we first arrived it was very hot outside and Michele was enjoying a popsicle, she even offered us each one. The general store has everything you could need at good prices. Over all the room was very clean comfortable and quiet.... more

Spent a great few days in the Reno area and ended up at the Sugarloaf. The new owners are very friendly, hospitable and accommodating. Room was so clean we couldn't believe it was such an old motel. Owner gave us a tour of the haunted room, #3. It was a nice room but I wouldn't want to spend the night... more

We made reservations for the Sugarloaf several days ahead of time. When we arived they charged us more than the rate quoted over the phone. Besides that, all was well. No ghosts. more

Management response from
Sugarloaf_Motel, owner

We are very sorry for the price difference; we have a 3 tier price structure, which includes single queen, double queen, and historic rooms. We had someone helping us with our reservations during the winter and possibly they did not quote the specific room rate or include taxes. Starting in March, we are confirming all reservations with an e-mail, which...

I was surprised to see a review titled 'Worst Ever' as I stayed at the Sugarlaof Motel and our stay was exceptional. I planned a trip to Virginia City over Thanksgiving with my 3 kids, ages 9-14. I was concerned that there wouldn't be anything for my kids to do in Virginia City; the owners of the motel gave us... more

We made reservations via e-mail and got an e-mail confirmation. Our room (2) was in the old building, which was built in the late 1800s. This building is haunded and has been the subject of an investigation by Ghost Hunters. The room(actually the whole hotel) is very clean, tidy and charming. There is a small store and a new gas... more

Well just turned up in town (as usual as we never book anything in advance) and were really lucky to get one of the last 2 rooms left that weekend. Anyway we booked for 2 nights and added an extra night on as we loved the little place so much. Situated on the main road into town with plenty of... more

My husband & I stayed at The Sugarloaf Mountain Motel several years ago after seeing it featured on a television show called Haunted America!(or something of that nature) The next day, we drove to Virginia City and luckily, the very room that was featured on the show was available. The room was very clean & nicely decorated. It was at... more
