It’s a very old hotel, l but all in all its kept up ok, but it’s the lack of service that is the really big problem. The older rooms up front are fine but no TV and baths are very small. As far as the management goes there is very little help if things are not going right so you’re... more

I previously reviewed my stay in March and had stated that the draw back was the lack of shuttle service to downtown. Turns out they have one that runs whenever you need it. So, my apologies. Now to review this stay: I stayed in room 5 in the old hotel. This is one of the haunted rooms, but I did... more

On my vacation this summer with my family, we stayed in both the Miners Cabin and in Williams room. The cabin was completey enjoyable. There was so much space and everything was clean and ready. Williams room was obviously just for sleeping but had a lovely patio that oversaw a beautiful view. more

Our room (#18 &19= The Miners Cabin) did not disappoint when it came to accommodations. Two full queen beds, two full bathrooms ( with great TP by the way) all the little niceties you find at other hotels like hair dryers,shampoo/conditioner and soap all provided at the ready. Every thing was VERY clean. The kitchenette provided more than everything we... more

The character of the hotel is great and the location very historic and interesting. I didn't expect modern, but it is apparent that hotel management isn't spending an extra dime to make the rooms comfortable. We were in a queen room in the new section. The furnishings were cheap and the bed was low and hard. The pillows were completely... more

This was our second time staying at the Gold Hill. We've had great experiences both times. We stayed in the old Miner's Cabin this time, supposedly very haunted. The hotel staff was super friendly and helpful as always. Mark the bartender was/is great. We love the bar down there, it's very cozy. Room 19 (one half of the cabin) was... more

For our anniversary, my wife and I decided to make the hour-long drive up to Virginia City, staying the night at the oldest hotel in the state. We really enjoyed our stay: everything about the place was top-notch: the office people were very friendly, the dinner at the restaurant was excellent, the play ("The Odd Couple") was entertaining, and the... more

What could be better then staying in a supposedly "haunted room" on Halloween? A bunch of friends and I decided to stay in this honeymoon room on Halloween to see for ourselves if it was haunted. Through out the night we heard nothing everyone was just enjoying themselves. We went to bed very late, and everyone was sleep. Suddenly something... more

Ray and I decided to get married at the Gold Hill Hotel because we loved the quaintness, history and wonderful ambiance of the hotel, resturant, and bar. We rode up to virginia city on the motercycle onSaturday, and got married in the great room on Sunday evening. with our 24 family members watching. It was wonderful, from dealing with the... more
