I am rating this place a "3" just because I don't want people to be discouraged from staying here. Yes, the whole clown thing in the lobby is a little creepy, and it's not helped by the cemetery next door. But, the room was clean and cheap - only $42. We got a good night's sleep and a shower and... More

Tonopah was a convenient stop off between Yosemite and Yellowstone, and after reading about the Clown Motel in roadtrippers we had to give it a go! The reception is full of Clowns of all different shapes and sizes. The owner collects them and apparently will give you a free room if you bring him one! The rooms were bog standard... More

Tonopah is located centrally for travel across Nevada and the Clown Motel is on the main road. A large sign welcomes bikers. This is a place that stands out on the Main Street, as being different. The other motels are fairly normal and I suggest a little predictable. Whereas the Clown Motel is an experience in its own right. I... More

Yes, the Clown motel is old, dated and can use some updates, but the room was clean and comfortable and Bob the owner was extremely nice. When we got there, it was closed until 3 p.m. and when he did show up (at 3:30) he only charged us for 1 of our 2 dogs as "sorry i'm late". We would... More

My husband and I have been traveling for 13 days now and even though this is not the fanciest motel it is the one I've liked the most. The rooms are nothing fancy but they have everything you need. The one thing they do have is great people. We were greeted with a smile and a hug, that is something... More

We have driven by many times and wanted to stay overnight because of rumors the motel was built over the Tonapah Cemetery. It was clean ,quiet and uneventful. If you are looking for a place just to rest ,it will work.By evening it is usually filled up because of construction workers staying there. They just sleep and head out early.

This is my second visit to tonopah it's the halfway point to Reno from vegas. The staff here were nice and the room was clean. It's not the newest or a Hyatt by any means but it serves the purpose. The hotel actually lost water during the night and the hotel refunded our money. I would recommend this place just... More

I stayed in this hotel because it looked fun and interesting, but once in the room I saw why it was so cheap. Dead bugs, moldy bathroom, ripped up carpet, non working tv: the works. And to top it all of, a pipe busted while I was sleeping, flooding the entire room and soaking my luggage. Waking up at 1am... More

I have never stayed in a place like this. Worn out carpet needs a paint job bad. Internet didn't work good and was a little noisy. On a positive note the heater worked, bed was ok, the TV worked and it had a refrigerator.

What more could one want? Clowns and an old graveyard? Quiet and friendly. Bob the owner is a gentleman. At the price the rating is excellent. Otherwise, average. If you have a phobia of clowns, that is, clown figurines in the lobby, clown paintings over the beds and if the thought of clowns does not remind you of that funniest... More
