Rooms are actually nice in the East tower I stayed. I would give 4-5 star to the room. The only thing that could be better is the linens on bed, not the fancy Egyptian cotton. But it was OK. However, location of this hotel is so terrible that I won't recommend this hotel at all. One side is Interstate, and the... more

Gambling is the sole attraction as far as I could tell. Rooms were big, overlooking the train yard which was noisy in the middle of the night even on a high floor. The accomdations were good we had a suite with a sitting room with a wet bar and frig (no mini bar though), 2 bathrooms and 2 double beds... more

I attended a conference that was hosted at the Nugget and was terribly underwhelmed. The West Tower has not been renovated, yet the hotel services folks claim it has the best views. Don’t be fooled, the West Tower has not been renovated since what feels like 1956. The rooms have teal and red velour as the accent colors and bedspreads.... more

Stayed in nicely appointed, newly remodeled East Wing. Rooms were clean and in good condition. Several restaurants and lounges available serving good food for reasonable prices. Little or no nightly entertainment on the premises or in the immediate area. Easy-to-navigate public bus service just next door. $2 per person each way to Reno; an extra $2 per person to the... more

The Nugget hotel/casino is always a pleasant stay. The common areas are very clean, the rooms bright and well furnished, and all hotel services are excellent. All the hotel personnel are cheerful and very helpful. In the moderate price range this is probably the preferred hotel in Reno. Although not a luxury destination, accomodations are superior and well maintained. On... more

This is a casino which allows smoking you never quite get away from this smell. To get to any of the restaurants you have to walk through the main gambling areas. The rooms were adequately appointed. However, a major scam associated with this hotel is that they do not provide coffee in the rooms and you have to go downstairs... more

This hotel and casino have been around for 50 years and they do some things quite well. Other things cannot be helped and a few things just come with the territory. The new East Tower rooms are fine, but traffic noise is inescapable. The hotel is between a freeway and a railroad yard. The staff was fine, polite, and attentive.... more

This hotel is not great - I also was there for a conference, and could not see much draw to the hotel. There is, of course, the casino, but it was dark and dingy, and was mostly populated by seemingly unhappy older folks. Additionally, the lobby/casino area were very smoky, more so than another casino hotel I stayed at in... more

I recently returned from a business conference held at J.A. Nugget in Reno. Overall I was not impressed with the hotel, which just had the dark, seedy, smoky feel of an old school casino. As others have noted, people can still smoke in this hotel/casino so you have to explicitly request a non-smoking room. I admit that I did not... more

Front desk staff needs more courtesy and the noise from the train yard overshadows what could be a view of the mountains. An extra fee of $5 per room gets added even if the gym is not used. It also costs $12.99 per day for internet access and you have to pay for parking!!! Food is second rate in the... more
