We stayed in July of 2014. It was our honeymoon. Our first room had urine running down the wall and was filthy dirty, Our second room had a huge rip in the bed spread, trash in the corner, pubic hairs on the toilet and floor, urine on the toilet and poop in the toilet, a jacuzzi that had bare wires... We always stay at the Sands. It is reasonable. We don't reserve $300 / night rooms, we only sleep in them. So if you want a clean room to sleep in and a nice casino to play in and great restaurants, the Sands is the place. Most of the other casino's are within walking distance. For us and our budget,... This was our second time staying at the Sands. Enjoyed the retro and resent music and videos. Lots of up beat people and friendly staff. The rooms were clean and decent.Lots of food and dining options also.

I would rate this hotel Excellent if i wasn't put into the room on the extreme corner of the hotel. Right next to the hotel is the train line and i could hear a loud train sound every couple of hours during my sleep, other than that i won't complaint. The rooms were good size, very nice view of the... More

We stayed at the Sands because they were the sponsor of the world's largest cribbage tournament. As a tournament player, I've stayed there many times. They always give us the rooms we want, non-smoking, 2 queen beds, & facing west. The rooms are good sized but the appointments seem dated. The casino is loud & smoking, but better than years... Reno is like taking a step back in time, to when the casino's first started in Nevada. The Sands has this old school feel, but it does have up to date gambling and dining. My room was no big deal, decent size. The beds were soft and comfortable. My view from the window was of the tower next to me... More

The Sands is a throw-back to old style Reno. While it is certainly in need of some upgrades to the rooms, it offers good value for your money. The rooms are fairly large and some have nice views of the mountains. The beds are comfy and I have never had a problem with cleanliness. The staff has always been friendly... More

I've stayed here for years (before the train trench) because the rooms were adequate and the price was great. This time, the room was in disrepair (scrapes in the wallpaper, patched carpet, one drawer was off the track) and not very clean (hair in the tub, soap residue on the sink). I'm not sure we'll stay here again.

Horrible place to stay. If we had read the reviews before we would never had booked it but it was a last minute stop on the way home from a road trip. Parking was almost impossible to find, the check in line was slow and long and the staff not very helpful. The initial price of $62 ended up being... More
