Stayed at Worldmark across street. Walked across street to Sands. Plenty of machines of all kinds. I prefer video poker-lots of choices. AND good results. Melts Diner in house. Buffet up stairs. Band was playing Wednesday night. Cocktail service prompt. Drinks good. Good visit. Two blokes from Eldorado.

The Sands is a throw-back to old style Reno. While it is certainly in need of some upgrades to the rooms, it offers good value for your money. The rooms are fairly large and some have nice views of the mountains. The beds are comfy and I have never had a problem with cleanliness. The staff has always been friendly... More

I've stayed here for years (before the train trench) because the rooms were adequate and the price was great. This time, the room was in disrepair (scrapes in the wallpaper, patched carpet, one drawer was off the track) and not very clean (hair in the tub, soap residue on the sink). I'm not sure we'll stay here again.

Horrible place to stay. If we had read the reviews before we would never had booked it but it was a last minute stop on the way home from a road trip. Parking was almost impossible to find, the check in line was slow and long and the staff not very helpful. The initial price of $62 ended up being... More

We stayed here on 12/26 - 12/18/14. Reno was very busy after Christmas, we were able to find rooms for under $100 here. We have always passed by Sands when driving to Circus Circus. Good: The room was spacious. Free wifi. Parking was easy to find, I can see my car from the room. Everyone was nice, from check in... More

I've always liked the Sands because it's close to town has nice rooms and the staff is very accommodating in the summertime there's a great swimming pool also. Lots of fun gambling there and if you're a bingo person they have a big hall for that too

Good hotel for the price. Good location to downtown and within easy walking distance to other casinos. The rooms are adequate, the service and personnel are great, the food is only fair. Seems like an update is in order.

The two rooms that we rented for two days after Christmas were very comfortable. They do a very good job of keeping the smoke free rooms actually smoke free. The staff checking everyone in were calm and cool despite dealing with hordes of travelers. It was also a very nice surprise to have such good fortune at the casino.
