Don't be fooled by low prices. This food is very low grade. I had steak and eggs. The steak was so tough I couldn't finish it. I sent my eggs back twice. The butter would not melt on my toast. My wife had a prime rib omlet which wasn't one of the budget meals offered. It was so tough she... More

Just another basic casino, nice size but just seems nothing out of the ordinary. What does bring you in is the food prices. They have specials on everything which is exciting. So even if you don't want to gamble the cheap eats is a home run.

One quick thing I'd like to add about the Cal Neva casino has to do with the Top Deck restaurant. Maybe it's a casino thing, but why do the cashiers need a tip cup? After I generously tipped my server inside the dining area, I was surprised to see a tip cup next to the register when I walked out... More

You wont find any advertising about it on the casino marquee, and only a small placard on the entrance, but by all means, give the steak and pasta house on the casino's 2nd floor a try. you wont be disappointed. they have a good variety menu, but on thursday-sunday, they have a steak and either lobster, scallops, or shrimp special... My buddy and I have stayed at this hotel for the past several years while on our annual Lake Tahoe Ski Vacation. For a hotel that started it's life in the early 80s and hasn't had very much money spent on it, it is still an OK stay. Don't expect all the bells and whistles ( you do get no... More

I was drawn to the Top Deck restaurant because of the huge sign I saw from the street advertising what appeared to be some incredible values of 3 different beef main dishes for breakfast , lunch or dinner. I settled in for the prime rib & fries. My wife/ Japanese was not so excited by the 3 choice, but ordered... More

Cal Neva has several restaurants with inexpensive eats. It has a steak and pasta, house; a top deck restaurant, bars and on the casino floor Casino Grill. It has a lively pool table and beer pong area. The casino floor has slots and table games. There are low minimums on table games. For a casino, it feels a bit "rough... More

We were happy to get a reservation the night of New Years Eve. We expected to pay more then regular rates due to the holiday. The location is fabulous, you were right in the heart of town across from Harrahs and a block away from other casinos. The casino is outdated and smoky but does have low minimums on tables... More

Hotel rooms were clean and staff was friendly. Be advised, there is no room service and you will have to leave the building and cross the street for food. Food there, however is cheap and good, best price in town as a matter of fact. Drinks are super cheap but the casino is thick with smoke. Beware of the elevator... More
