We had heard about this State Park and had driven from Bryce Canyon to visit en route to other places. We were disturbed to find that we initially had to pay a park entry fee at a very nondescript place that suggested no value for this visit, and were regretting our choice. Decided on a second camping trip before the (our) season ended!!! Atlatl Campground in the Valley of Fire State Park was the obvious choice for us since it's only 45 minutes from home, Las Vegas, NV. Wow! What a nice campground for desert camping surrounded by red rocks! It is stunning! We camped in a tent here for 2 days. There was a water faucet right on our site. It was very convenient! There were flush toilets and showers wich we did enjoy since it was really really hot in the valley!! Don't expect to find... More
