Don't be put off by the room description..they're very nice. The gaming is wonderful! I played blackjack for 9 hours straight and couldn't leave the table because I was winning! This is the feel of the old Las Vegas, fun, excitement and beautiful girls dealing...you cant beat that! Full drinks..not watered down.Great music playing and great comps......I was staying on... This is the forth time I've stayed here. You need to understand that the 5 stars are because I like the place, do not expect a luxury hotel. The property, as advertised, is the oldest in Vegas with small rooms and antique bathrooms. I get a free room without being a high roller and it is nice to be able... More

I just returned from a three-night stay in one of the Golden Gate's newly remodeled suites and it was great! The GG's website describes the suites accurately. The suite includes a firm, comfortable king-size bed, a large sectional sofa (with queen-size pull out bed), and a large flat-screen TV with plenty of counter and storage space. I shared the room... We received three free nights at this hotel casino. When we arrived , we found the room was too old and received an upgrade. Mr Dave Tuttle, the COC offered us a nice package and a complimentary meal, above and beyond. Great staff, and a fun place downtown Vegas. Love it.

I stayed here about ten years ago and decided to try it again when coming back. Loved it. The people were incredibly friendly, the room was VERY comfortable and modern (I stayed in one of the suites, definitely worth the extra money) and the restaurant is outstanding. (They aren't kidding about their shrimp cocktail, I'm craving it even now!) Good... More

Stayed two nights this past weekend at the Golden Gate in one of their suites. They are recently redone and are very spacious and classy. The shower was absolutely fantastic and clean. It was one of those with a large circular shower head hanging down from the ceiling that had good pressure and temperature. The only complaint I have is... More

We stayed for one night after arriving from Europe. Josh, working at front desk is great. However the room was not so great. Very old and extremely noisy. We were on The Fremont Street side. Since there is only single glazing it is impossible to even hear your roommate. Fine place if you are there tot party. Crappy place in... More

We appreciate the feedback and we are always happy to move guests to a different room away from the music on Fremont Street, per availability. The rooms closest to Fremont Street have been remodeled in a way to maintain the historic integrity of the hotel, and our new rooms located towards the back of the hotel may be more of... More

Great Smiles and Service. The standard rooms are small; yet clean and comfortable. Great for a weekend rendezvous; not for a week--too claustrophobic!! Unable to locate a room for a scenic view!! Highly recommend an upgrade/Suite

I have visited this casino several times through the years, most recently being on memorial day weekend--2014. It is a fun and neat little casino. The dice dealers are great. When making my reservations for memorial day weekend, I initially wanted to stay here and try it out. I discovered that they charge a resort fee of $20.00 per night.... More

Thank you for sharing your concern over the resort fee. Although we now have the fee, we've also dropped our room rates even further in order to continue to offer our guests the best value in town. The resort fee includes Wi-Fi, local & toll-free calls as well as $10 off show tickets at our sister property, the D. We're... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Accurately billed as Las Vegas' "Most Historic Hotel," the Golden Gate has stood the test of time and then some. Since opening as the Hotel Nevada in 1906, this modest and cozy corner establishment has stood placidly at One Fremont Street while the town -- and the world -- changed around it. Most notably, the Fremont Street Experience was built right outside its door. Very little has changed to compromise the hotel's old school charm in the intervening years, although the Golden Gate has made improvements and modernized. The hotel remains proudly dwarfed by its neighbors, at just 106 rooms. The rooms themselves, on the other hand, have been updated and include modern amenities like flat screen televisions and iHome clock radios. The casino is just as active as opening day -- and just as intimate -- although now its boasts Dealer Dancers from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. nightly. Its shrimp cocktail -- widely acknowledged as the first ever served in Las Vegas -- is as popular as the day it was introduced. Even as Las Vegas builds toward the heavens, the Golden Gate keeps close to the ground, rooted in its rich and wildly successful history. ... more   less
