Booked this room with kayak.com/ priceline.com, neither of which mentioned a $24.40 "resort fee" that I had to pay on arrival in addition to the rate agreed to when I booked. The room we were given was tiny and very noisy (loud music from below) despite the fact that I asked for their quietest room. There were very few electrical... More

After staying on the strip the 8th & 9th of Aug we moved dowtown to the Golden Gate Hotel & Casino for one night. The. Hotel is on Fremont street across from the Plaza. The casino is small but fun. All employees are friendly and helpful. Security is extremely good. The rooms are small, remodled, clean and comfortable. They do... More

Stayed at GG for one night only just to experience Freemont in a convenient way. The hotel is small and the manage to pack a LOT of casino stuff into a very small area. Arrived late on a Saturday evening and the place was quite loud as people were partying and gambling away. Service a the front desk was straight... More

Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We're pleased to hear check-in was a breeze. The rooms closest to Fremont Street are smaller than other rooms that we have here, as we remodeled them in a way to preserve the history of the hotel. If the music from Fremont Street is too loud, we are happy to move... More

Booked a room through Expedia with airfare. After we booked it, we read the reviews on TripAdvisor (but more importantly saw the photos from other travelers). Saw a pic of the bathroom. The door to the bathroom would not even open all the way because it hit the toilet. We are leaving tomorrow for our trip and the policy says... More

Thank you for sharing your concern and it’s unfortunate to hear you did not end up staying with us. We are always happy to move guests to a different room (pending availability) simply by stopping by the front desk. The rooms closest to Fremont Street were remodeled in a way to preserve the history of the hotel, which is why... More

stayed here about 3 years ago, definetly old school, rooms right out of the 30's, up dated of coarse. staff was decent and casino always fun. the best part is the restaurant down stairs, chicken pot pie home made style.

After traveling a bit around the west coast, I extended my trip with a few more nights in Las Vegas. In the past I always stayed on or near the strip, and wanted to try staying downtown. I stayed at the Golden Gate hotel for 4 nights and they were perhaps the best 4 nights I have had in Las... More

I have been to Las Vegas 12 times. We went in March 2014. so ignore the august down below This last time was the worst visit ever. when we booked in we found out they have started a resort fee on top of your booking fee this is per day. our charge was $22 per day on top of what... More

Thank you for sharing your concern over the resort fee. Although we have added the fee, we have also dropped our room rates further to ensure our guests continue to receive the best value in town. It's unfortunate to hear you were not satisfied with the room and we will be taking your feedback into consideration. More

Everyone from the bartenders to the waitresses to the dealers was so nice, welcoming and helpful! I was with a group of about 20 and they treated us very well! They let us reserve a table, they made sure we were taken care of! I highly recommend visiting this casino/hotel!

In celebrating my engagement and a birthday party at Golden Gate, I have to say it was first class. The hospitality was above any experienced on my trip to Vegas. The pit bosses, particularly Wayne, were approachable and engaging and helped make the experience even better. I will return on my next visit to Vegas and highly recommend to anyone... More

The shrimp cocktail is legend... But remember this hotel is very old over 100 years... the rooms are small and so all the hallways and doorways. The bed is tiny to fit the room.. If you have lots of luggage I wouldn't recommend that you stay at this hotel. btw I got this room for 12.00 a night... so I... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Accurately billed as Las Vegas' "Most Historic Hotel," the Golden Gate has stood the test of time and then some. Since opening as the Hotel Nevada in 1906, this modest and cozy corner establishment has stood placidly at One Fremont Street while the town -- and the world -- changed around it. Most notably, the Fremont Street Experience was built right outside its door. Very little has changed to compromise the hotel's old school charm in the intervening years, although the Golden Gate has made improvements and modernized. The hotel remains proudly dwarfed by its neighbors, at just 106 rooms. The rooms themselves, on the other hand, have been updated and include modern amenities like flat screen televisions and iHome clock radios. The casino is just as active as opening day -- and just as intimate -- although now its boasts Dealer Dancers from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. nightly. Its shrimp cocktail -- widely acknowledged as the first ever served in Las Vegas -- is as popular as the day it was introduced. Even as Las Vegas builds toward the heavens, the Golden Gate keeps close to the ground, rooted in its rich and wildly successful history. ... more   less
