The hotel is in downtown vegas close to the freemont experience. Its got a 70's feel dated, but clean and if you get rooms early you can get it for 35$. Very cheap alternative to the strip. The restaurant down stairs makes awesome oxtail soup at nights a perfect late night food. There are free shuttles to the strip if... More

Very late check in on Saturday night and didn't want to pay a ridiculous price. This hotel was cheap. Room on sixth floor was dated but clean and spacious. Plenty of towels and toiletries provided. Small safe in room which is key operated. Close to Fremont Street.

The rooms are dated ,but ours was clean., well we came up to the room and the maid was still cleaning so we had to wait for half an hour to have it finished .they kind of have a room safe that has a key and might hold you wallet. We stayed here for one night to see the Fremont... More

I stayed at this hotel from Aug 10 - 14. I usually do book at the sister property Main Street Station but decided to give the California a try. Upon entering the room I was shocked at how small it was compared to the Main Street Station. The carpet was a bit worn out and should be replaced. The washroom... More

We decided to add one more night to our week long stay. We checked our offers and had a comped room here. The check in clerk was rather a short with us, but got us checked in and sent on our way - to the room at the very end of the hall on the ninth floor. It was fine... More

Stayed here 7 nights in early August 2014. It's basic, clean, friendly, and in a good downtown location. For the prices they charge, can't really complain. The room has everything you need: frig, hair dryer, TV, alarm clock, and iron. Internet for a fee of $9.99 per day per device. Hotels in VEGAS, for the most part, charge for internet!... More

The hotel was ok. Our family of four just needed a one-night stay for a Sat night in Las Vegas -- it served the purpose, couldn't have handled any more days. The room was clean, a bit dated, and nothing special. The check-in process was efficient and quick. The casino was small, and drinks in plastic cups are a pet... More

We had boked at The Mainstreet Station. They were overbooked. They sent us over to their other hotel, The California. Was hesitant at first. But they more than made up for the overbooking and inconvenience of having to go to another hotel. This room was amazing. And not only did they give us a luxury sweet, they discounted our rate.... the hotel and casino was very clean and friendly, especially if you are from the islands with restraunts serving local foods, within a short distance of freemont street and more casinos with a shuttle to take you to the strip

The hotel staff were wonderful, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The refrigerator in the room was amazing, our drinks were ice cold the entire time. Most of the maids were good, but some were less than good. But charging for WIFI per device per day? Not cool.
