Stayed 3 nights in April for the Golden Arm Crap tournament and that was the highlight at the Cal. Last time, we were here was 5 years ago, and nothings changed; dingy, dark, worn and you smell like you've smoked a carton of cigarettes, There is little to no ventilation which is gross because you're inhaling everyone's cigarette fumes. Yuk!... More

I stayed here for 5 nights and found it to be reasonably priced and quite comfortable. I remember getting some help by a bellman with a shuttle bus booking and asked him why he would suggest staying here vs a place on the strip. He said it's because the staff treat people like guests and not numbers and will greet... More

We visited Las Vegas the first weekend of May 2015 during the Mayweather-Pacman fight. We usually like to stay downtown at the Vegas Club which was sold out along with a lot of other hotels or the prices had been raised a lot higher than normal to $250- $300 per night downtown. We had booked ahead and was able to... More

Stayed here 5 nights in April 2015. Tired building, room was fine, well maintained by room cleaners. Bit tacky and dated downstairs in casino. Full of people from Hawaii, met some really nice people. Pool on roof, really quiet and pieced il, not used much. Best part is its location, out of main door, across the road, dozen paces and... More

This hotel has an excellent staff to assist you in all your needs. Everyone was very pleasant & friendly. That atmosphere even was noticed in the other guests. For a nice comfortable visit, the California Hotel is the one in downtown Las Vegas.

I stayed here one time and that was it. It's kinda away from fremont street experience and a little scary if you're walking in the middle of the night. I don't go here because of the location and also they've had numerous outbreak of salmonella food poisoning. It's a ghetto hotel if you ask me. I prefer Main Street and... More

I go to Vegas once a year for the first weekend of the NCAA basketball tournament. It is one block from Fremont street. Very no frills but economical, nice rooms and a nice staff. Not a lot of restaurants on site but what they have are good. Fremont street is the main attraction. The hotel is also connected to the... More

California hotel is the place to meet da gang from Hawaii. The rooms are nice and big and comfortable. They have excellent restaurants. The Aloha Specialties restaurant has the best, authentic Hawaiian dishes anywhere in Vegas. The Cal is one of the anchors of downtown Hotel/Casinos.

The California Hotel and Casino (Cal) is a block away from Fremont Street and is perfect getaway. The pro to the Cal is that they charge no resort fee of $30 per night like they do on the strip. The table games are great considering they have lower minimums then the strip and the food prices are a big win... More
