The hotel room was clean, but it is hard to keep a dated hotel clean. You step into your room and it seem that you go back to the 1980s, including a analog television. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is really the surprise, it is quite good. I would easily eat there again, as for staying the... More

This hotel is not at all what it advertises. Don't be fooled thinking that its a resort or casino because it isn't! Dirty rooms, old and disgusting are the four words that come to mind for this hotel not "home away from home" as the advertising says. Don't make the mistake we did of booking this hotel on-line!

Even though the casino looks rather sad (matter of fact, the whole town of Hawthorne looks sad with the many closed up storefronts), the restaurant inside the casino was rather good, albeit nothing fancy. We ordered a patty melt which was made to perfection and quite tasty. The accompanying french fires were also good...crisp on the outside and moist on... More

Both "resort" and "home away from home" need to be removed from the description of this place. The "lodge" is a motor inn across the street from the casino. We had to wait until 3:30 for a "clean" room which would have been fine IF the room was actually clean! Wasn't expecting too much for the price but this place... More

Place is clean and located across the street from the casino and a decent cafe. Far from a "resort" but fine for one night. Some rooms have been recently renovated and are very nice but cost more. We chose to pay less and have the older room with old style tv but for one night it was not big deal.... More

Advertised as a Lodge, in conjunction with the Casino. A"Home way from home." It is called a resort destination. Couldn't be further from the truth. Advertised as a nonsmoking room. The smell was overpowering. It was across the street from the casino,, and was dirty, drink rings on the bedside stand, the bed was hastily made. Bedspread on crooked, sheets... More

Advertised as a "casino resort" is a blatant misinterpretation. There is no resort...the "lodge" is across the street and is one of the worst places I have been. The swimming is non functional, TV's are old digitalis, rooms smell, soap was left in the tub, no updates have been made in years...except they do have a very good wifi. I... More

My wife & I stopped here for lunch at their coffee shop. Had a very good waitress and the food was pretty good. I had a chicken sandwich, and my wife had a french dip. Service was a little slow, but they were very busy.

I stayed at El Capitan 3 nights, mid October 2013. Maybe the scorching negative reviews had some positive effect. My room was simple and clean - towels, sheets, etc. The coffee maker, TV, and heater all worked and the little coffee packets were resupplied. The walls are a bit thin, I could hear showers coming on in the morning. I... More

You don't want to stay here. The carpets looked like someone changed their oil on them. I don't think they were cleaned since General Custer lost at the Little Big Horn. The air conditioner rattled, the so-called drapes were ready to fall off. The 19" TV was hardly viewable. The little refrigerator had been left open for some time. It... More
