Crisp fall weekend, beautiful setting, historic buildings. We should have relaxed on the balcony with a glass of wine at sunset rather than go on the "tour". The tour is heavy on the "ghost stories", but the creepiest part is actually standing on a decaying wooden walkway around the outside of the cabin used by Marilyn Monroe. Front desk staff... more

Unresponsive staff, dirty rooms. Mildew in the bathroom, wrote a note to housekeeping, nothing done. Front of vanity was missing. Attempting to open the window, the frame came off the glass. Cards would not open the room, had to go to front desk twice and was told it was too close to our cell phone. Asked to speak to management upon... more

stayed in Sinatra's cabin. The phone didn't work (which we got a discount for) and the tv was crap, but man what a view. It snowed while we were there and we felt like there was no one around for miles. This is not the kind of place to stay if you want perfection and dullness. The restaurant is really... more

We spent a couple nights at the Calneva. We really enjoyed our time here. This hotel has a lot of personality and our room and the area's we visited were very clean. We had no issues with the hot and cold water. In fact, I thought the room was fairly standard, including price. The outstanding feature was the view. It... more

We stayed at CalNeva for a few days mostly out of curiosity of it's long history and to get some quiet time alone. We came away feeling we had found both...as well as a place we will return to. We stayed in Cabin #3 which was Marilyn Monroe's when she used to stay there. We met another couple in Cabin... more

My first impression of the Cal-Neva resort spa and casino was that it was a bit older and very dark inside. The entrance to the hotel is very much in the theme of a log cabin, with a casino and slot machines. Kids are not allowed in the casino area at anytime except when making their way up to the... more

My wife and I spent a night of our honeymoon here. The wifi doesn't work, the wall paper is peeling, the TV picture is GREEN, the shower alternates between HOT and COLD and will burn you... it's a dump. more

Some friends of mine held their wedding at Cal-Neva, and we had a blast! Sharon, the wedding planner, was fantastic. The rooms were big and clean, with amazing views on the upper level. Frank Sinatra owned the hotel for a few years in the 60s, and they really play that up. I definitely recommend the hotel if you're a Rat... more

I was throughly pleased with our weekendtrip to Cal Neva. They had 2 weddings booked at the hotel for the weekend but we still able to accompany my reservation. W had reserved a premier room with 2 beds but upgraded us to a 2 room suite on the 6th floor (w/o out asking!)...the view was the best I have seen... more

My boyfriend and all his family were there for a wedding back in Oct. of 08. It was very cold, and the rooms had no heaters. beds were too soft, not enough blankets, we called to get more, and they were brought up pretty quickly. Houskeeping ladies are nice. Front desk guy, was rude, and the bartender (Frank) was even... more
