I've stayed at the Gander four times during the annual crane migration and plan to return. It is a delightfully quirky place in a beautiful, peaceful setting. Dave is a wonderful cook and can provide for whatever tastes, dietary restrictions, or scheduling needs you present to him. He's had fresh-baked muffins, coffee, juice, and cereal ready for my friends and... More

A group of us who traveled to see the crane migration in Nebraska stayed one night at the Gander Inn. The rooms were very clean. My room had a microwave and refrigerator. The host was helpful and friendly - and a great cook. We paid the extra $8/person for a hot home-cooked breakfast, and it was spectacular. The food was... More

I was not expecting much from my stay in Lewellen, NE, having stayed at some pretty basic motels in rural areas in my time. So imagine my excitement when I made it to the Gander Inn and found a clean and comfortable place with great amenities. We were there for a hunting trip - as were many of the other... More

I stumbled upon the Gander Inn on TripAdvisor. I was looking for hotels in Scottsbluff, Chadron or Fort Rob but everything was full due to Sturgis and county fairs. Being on our motorcycle, we should have known. Fortunately, our oversight worked to our advantage. The Gander Inn may be the cutest place we've ever stayed! The only thing available was... More

I have to begin this by saying that my wife and I have waited 16 years to experience a Bed and Breakfast as one we stayed in Steamboat, Colorado. We have traveled through Germany, Sweeden and numerous states around the US but never found anything as beautifully decorated, or managed by such wonderful owners as the Gander Inn Motel and... I am neither a cruel reviewer, nor a soft one, I think. My top criteria for hotels, as we travel around during retirement, have been: budget price if possible; super clean; all necessities supplied (our needs are simple); all facilities function and none are broken; rapid hot water on tap; and relative quiet. This well-remodeled rustic bed & breakfast in... More

This motel is owned by a delightful couple, Dave and Trish, in the town of Lewellen, Nebraska. Four of us, all women, went to look at a friend's horses. Where to stay was a big concern. One friend found this motel that proved there is great food, wonderful people, and a lovely setting even in rural Nebraska (no insult meant).... More

my daughter and I just came from traveling the east coast and staying in many different hotels for a week. We met with family for a reunion and were so surprised to the service we received. We needed a late check in and our room was open and waiting for us. The breakfast was called a "continental" breakfast but was... More

My wife's family does a reunion every two years, this year it was held, the first week end in August and by sheer luck we stumbled on to a gold mine. We were all very happy with the Gander Inn. Dave and his wife are wonderful host and hostess, they went way above and beyond. The continental breakfast was more... More

Dave and Trish served my family of 30 as if we were their family over 3 days. We initially chose this location in an attempt to be a central point for family arriving from 5 states and quickly realized we had happened upon a gem. Dave and Trish are genuine and engaging hosts who welcomed us to relax and enjoy.... More
