This motel has been the Best Western North Shore Lodge for quite some time. It used to be a Days Inn. We stayed here (3 rooms) December 22 to December 26, 2006. We make the trip to Hastings each year at Christmas to visit family. We've stayed at the Holiday Inn the last 3 years but, as the Holiday Inn has become quite run down, we chose to try this motel instead. The only positive things I can say about this motel is that the rooms are large & have a refrigerator & microwave, & the housekeeping staff are very friendly & caring. On the negative side, there is no one at the front desk from 11pm to 6am (and sometimes not even when they're supposed to be there). The continental breakfast is supposed to open at 6am. By 6:15am it was still not open & no one was manning the front desk. The hall was filled with cigarette smoke as there was obviously smoking going in even in the rooms marked "no-smoking."
