Lovely day at Lochmara. We enjoyed the freedom to walk around the property, visiting bird and gecko houses. Too bad the geckos were so shy! Loved the Punga People. Food and ice cream were great! Day visit only. My second time - would go again.

Lochmara is in a stunning location and on a beautiful day would be hard to beat for scenery. It has its own fast water taxi to and from Picton and the fare is supposed to cover the run of the property but we found there was an extra $8 each to visit the other attractions - probably irrelevant in our... We have been living in the Picton area for a year and a visit to Lochmara had been recommended by all our newly found friends since we got here so this day trip for lunch was long overdue. A fantastic weather forecast also helped to motivate us and booking the boat online was quick and easy. In fact, the 15... More

Five stars for comfort, facilities, fabulous kitchen, sheer beauty, super-friendly and helpful staff. AND - there are such fascinating sights all over the block. We had a rest day while walking the Track and enjoyed half-day exploring the wonderful carvings, installations and Lung People - not to mention the birds, the bees, the eels, the cooks and the wonderful muni... Just spent two nights at Lochmara Lodge.. The best descrtion of the place is querky but the situation on the edge of Queen Elizabeth Sound is superb. The Lodge can only be accessed by boat or by walking over the Queen Charlotte Track. Our accomodation wad good with a balcony looking over the water. There are no self catering facilities... More

When the only way to get to and from your accommodation is by a long hike or boat, you know it's going to be remote and peaceful. That's the reason for this lodge, the blend in and live with nature. When arriving by boat, your luggage gets whisked away via buggy and you can stroll around the grounds on the... More

We only visited Lochmara for lunch while we were kayaking in the sounds, but it is an absolutely stunning spot, with friendly people and very very good food and coffee for weary kayakers. We loved it and will definitely be back to stay the next time we are down in the Queen Charlotte sound.

New Zealand has really beautiful nature, and Lochmara Lodge is a place were you can really get into it, while you still enjoy a high standard. We stayed three nights. Made a number of hikes and also some kayaking. We brought lunch to the viewpoints, and life is good. The Lochmara Lodge has the Best Kitchen we tried during our... More

So pleased we chose to stay here and had a rest day here. The staff were so welcoming from the moment we stepped onto the wharf. Our room had a fantastic view across the bay. So appreciated after the 7.5 hour walk to get there. We opted for a massage the next day with Marik. It was FANTASTIC. We can't... More
