Nestled beside the spectacular Swan Mountains, the Laughing Horse Lodge is a gem waiting for you a half hour SSE of Kalispell, MT. My wife and I stayed there for a most memorable week in early June. The owner is a wonderful, larger-than-life lady named Kathleen Moon. Amongst her manifold talents, Kathleen is a marvelous chef so you can go for a divine dining experience and/or lodge there and lounge in a courtyard resplendent with an array of flowering plants and buzzing with rufous hummingbirds and evening grosbeaks. Incredible ambience! I really struggle for an adjective that captures the magic of Laughing Horse. Eclectic? Enchanting? Embracing? I throw them all in a blender and still fall short. Kathleen's in operation from the first week of June to October 1. Gracious and elegant, she, nonetheless, likes to spend a little time on the cusp of the hysterically outrageous when the situation is conducive. In short, she and her Laughing Horse make lives richer; a visit there is enormously rewarding and downright fun! So, as you make your plans for 2024, remember the Laughing Horse Lodge if you are thinking of a trek in that direction. Discover it for yourself. Sure glad we did!! …

Great place to rest and enjoy good food. Kathleen is a great hostess, pleasant and very welcoming, and great chef. It is a pretty laid-back setting. Bed was comfy and not much street noise overnight. Rooms nice and dark so I didn't wake up as early as usual! Really enjoyed having meals there, easy pace and nice ambience. There is access to the lake across the street for a short stroll on the beach. Could hear neighboring room watching a show and small conversation, so earplugs good if sensitive to that. Bathroom is supplied with bar soap and liquid soap (bring own shampoo, lotion etc). Well-run and clean, model b&b!

Laughing horse lodge is a gem! There is no better place to stay in the swan lake area. The proprietor is efficient, professional, knowledgeable, and one of the worlds best cooks! The rooms and grounds are cozy, whimsical and magical! We love this place!

Great 2 days at Laughing Horse. Food was outstanding as was the service. Rooms are rustic and very relaxing with no TV or clocks. We enjoyed sitting in the garden, having a beverage or two, and making new friends from all over the country discussing our daily adventures in Glacier. We will definitely stay here again when in the area.

We stayed 2 nights. The rooms had lovely, rustic lodge decor and were clean. There is no AC, however, despite daytime highs near 90, the rooms stayed quite comfortable during the day with the nightly cool down facilitated by the mobile box fan provided and screened windows. The bed was very comfortable. The lodge rooms surround a garden courtyard which has seating for residents to relax outside. Each morning you are provided with a beautiful gourmet breakfast served on tables in the garden courtyard, while soft music is playing in the background. We had a delicious omelette served with fruit, toast, juice and coffee one morning. On our second day, the main course was huckleberry pancakes. Make reservations ahead of time before you arrive to enjoy a limited seating dinner that is a culinary delight. The menu and wine list were outstanding, and we were treated to live acoustic guitar and song during dinner. Our hostess had a menagerie of well-behaved pets in the garden that include two beautiful labradors, two cats and an African gray parrot that greeted us good morning each day. This stay was one of the highlights of our lengthy trip to this region. We would definitely look to stay here again if we return to the area.…

We booked our stay at the horse for 5 nights and hoped for the best. I was looking for a dog friendly location to stay while we visited Glacier. While Glacier is nice, the food and relaxation provided at Laughing Horse is the part of our trip that I enjoyed the most. Early mornings socializing and drinking coffee in the gardens with other guest before being served a delicious breakfast. Sharing the days plans before we headed out for the day. Gourmet meals at night followed by additional socialization and a recap of the days activities. If you like to escape the hustle and bustle, while still enjoying great food, you cannot go wrong.

First off I got to meet the most well behaved yellow labs at breakfast, home made and absolutely delicious. The rooms were very clean and had a box fan to keep it cool. It was a nice and quiet area with very polite and helpful staff. I wound up leaving my ring in my room after leaving and the owner called me back and forth atleast 3 times to find it for me and is mailing it to me. I was extremely pleased with the fact that she put all her effort into finding it for me and was very very kind and relaxed about the whole thing. 10/10 I would definitely stay here anytime I’m at swan lake, I have absolutely no complaints about my stay here, if you’re thinking about booking here, DO IT!
