If you're looking for somewhere other than the the usual edge-of-town chains, then the Murray is, realistically speaking, your only choice. (There is another hotel just up the road but shall we just say that it's not one for out of town visitors). But this monopoly doesn't mean that the Murray is able to rest on its laurels. It has... more

I stayed at the Murray for two days, mid September. I have mixed feelings about the place. On the positive side, the location is great, the rooms are very well appointed and you can see they took care of keeping the "old west charm". Very clean and comfortable. On the negative side, I assume if you are not a US... more

I traveled through Livingston on my way from Bozeman to fish Yellowstone. Only spent one night and got there late. It was a old historic hotel oozing with history. The ladies at the front desk are more than happy to tell you about the old stories. The old elevator was broken and they were having a part manufactured. Kinda a... more

This past winter I had the pleasure of spending a week in the historic Murray Hotel and couldn't have been happier. The room was kept comfortably warm despite the frigid temperatures and blowing snow persisting just outside. The staff was very helpful and made sure my stay was as enjoyable as possible. I had scheduled a late check-in, 10PM on... more

We stayed here on our trip to Yellowstone. I wanted something different from a chain and we got it! This is a quaint 1900-era hotel and with that in mind there were a few glitches in our stay. First, there is hardly any parking available. There is no parking lot and you have to park on the street. There are... more

The Murray is great if you know what you are getting into. Great rennovations, cute, nice staff, fun atmosphere, etc. But what most outsiders won't know is the following. Noisy at night- train tracks right next to the hotel and there is a bar with live bands on the weekends. The elevator is quaint but a hazard. The hotel sold... more

We loved the small hotel with a big personality! It was an older hotel but with all the comforts of home. We were upgraded to a suite room with a sitting room. There was a fridge, microwave, AC and TV. It was within walking distance of shops and restaurants, right in the heart of town. The staff was nothing but... more

I've somehow managed to get to Livingston three times on business! Each time I've stayed at the Murray and it really has gotten better every time. They have been sprucing the place up and it shows. This time I had room 402, right on the corner of the building. Excellent furnishings, exposed wood floors etc. They call it a suite,... more

The best hotel experience we have had in Montana! We stayed in a suite on the third floor, which was large and very comfortable. The room was well appointed and felt more like a historic condo than a hotel room. The staff was helpful and friendly. Across the street was a small movie theatre and a lovely historic train station... more

The Murray is funky in a good way, unique, and charming. It's a one-of-a-kind stay. We stayed in a "junior suite" which featured two rooms (sitting/kitchen room and bedroom) We liked that a lot. The place just oozes history, and one can feel what it must have been like back in the day when the Murray was a grand railroad... more
