We loved everything about our stay. The hosts were wonderful and bent over backwards to make our stay lovely. We loved hiking up the hill with their goat following us to the beautiful view. One of our favorite pictures is of the goat looking out at the valley with us. The grounds are beautiful and well worth exploring. The setting... More

Thanks for your kind review. Its always a pleasure when our guests enjoy the small amenities, the hiking out the back door, the pesky goats rescued and living on the grounds, the "old fashioned" feel, definitely not a commercial resort. Hope to see you again soon! More

We spent the night of September 12, 2014 at the Amber Bear Inn. What a wonderful experience! Great food, great scenery, great accommodations, and great hosts! The hike up the mountain behind the inn took us through a beautiful forest to a picturesque overlook of the valley. The grounds are a wildlife watchers delight. If you are heading to northwest... Thanks so much. This couple, a retired teacher and School principle, really took advantage of all Amber Bear Inn has to offer. Dining with a view of wildlife grazing, hiking on the wildlife sanctuary, exploring our quaint rural area. We are the "middle of nowhere" and that "peaceful, easy feeling", found only in a natural environment, is dang hard to... More

We visited in late March 2014 and were absolutely blown away by the area. As runners and hikers, we were delighted to find miles and miles of dirt roads (wonderful running surface) and cannot wait to return a little later in the year when the snow melt will reveal more of the fabulous hiking trails. (We couldn't wait -- we... More

The "middle of nowhere" is not about the journey but rather about the destination. Its hard to find, but worth the search. This runner loved the world's best running surface, hard packed roads virtually traffic free. The air is clean out here and still quite cool. He asked about any "mean dogs" that may chase him down the road. We... More

When we arrived in Heron, we were worried! But as we drove up the drive to the Amber Bear..... we were all smiles! Our host met us at the front door with a big welcome and there was accommodations for our eighteen wheeler and our straight truck..... after our six hour drive in snow storm, it was nice to have... We enjoyed our stay at the Inn, we wish our stay could have been longer. The Inn keepers were extremely helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure we had directions and maps for our excursion the next day. Make sure you have one of their delicious omlets😊

Thanks so much for your review. We do go overboard on portion size on our made-to-order omelettes. However, its a guilt-free breakfast because if you can't finish it, our staff dog, Chase, will be happy to have his dish filled with the rest of your breakfast. He rarely misses his morning scone also. He's looking forward to your return, and... More

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at the Amber Bear Inn in December while we attended our daughter's graduation from Monarch. This is a sweet, quaint restaurant and inn. It is located in the beautiful cabinet mountains on the Montana/Idaho border. The scenery is gorgeous. The owners provide a menu filled with delicious meal options. I've not stayed in the Inn, however, the restaurant service, conversation, and food is exceptional. I've eaten there twice and look forward to eating there again.
