Nice new hotel, but its kind in the middle of a mall or complex of some sort. Parking is a walk away and not right in front of the hotel. Felt a little concerned about the security of the vehicle. We had a fantastic stay at the Great Northern! This was a stopover on our way home from Yellowstone and Helena was a pleasant surprise. Flagship hotel of downtown Helena. Great location right in the center of Helena. Within walking distance of restaurants, movie theater, businesses, civic center. Above average complimentary breakfast with homemade Belgian waffles and a coffee shop adjacent. Other chain hotels/motels are 5-10 minute drive from downtown. more

The Great Northern is nestled in an area with restaurants, a movie theater and the mountains. Friendly and beautiful girls working at the front desk. The room was great; spacious, quiet and all the necessities. Free shuttle to airport, and walking distance to downtown shops. more

Nice hotel on the main road in Helena. This is a newer property, and after living in Helena before it was built, probably the best bet for both a nice place to stay, with a fair price for what you get. Comfortable rooms and huge bathroom with nicer amenities. We will stay there again when in Helena. more
