We spent two nights in motel unit #7 last week, while the majority of Cooke City establishments were closed for the season. It was an excellent choice for a quiet getaway. Unit #7 featured a bedroom with queen bed, sink/vanity, a bath with full tub and shower and a kitchen and living room with beautiful stone fireplace. We really enjoyed... More

What can I say about High Country other than it is exactly what I expect when traveling to a small mountain town and picking a motel to stay in, warm clean rooms with great service from the owners Brandon and Paige, I don't go to Yellowstone to constantly be on my cell phone, computer etc, so the need for Wi-Fi... The fire house pole from the apartment upstairs is unique. A small girl actually went UP the pole. However, the accommodations are sorely lacking for the money paid. The room reminds you of a family motel from the 50's/60's. The room had new pine walls and ceiling, which was unique. The fixtures were old and the beds were hard, due... More

The cabins at High Country Motel are superb. Each has a deck outside with seating so you can enjoy the view. Wildlife sometimes come into town which is a bonus. Room was large and comfortable with a fan and heaters to cope with all conditions. Bed comfortable with lots of pillows. Plenty of fluffy white towels. Good water pressure. Wifi... More

When we arrived I heard a voice & answered-looking around wondering where??? then Brandon arrived by zipping down the fireman's pole from his home above the motel office!!! Don't think I've ever experienced this "grand" entrance before. As with all motels in this area --it wasn't new but was remodeled, clean & had a friendly, helpful owner who told us,... More

If you decide to stay in Cooke City, realize that tourism is the lifeblood of this town. Summer tourist and winter snowmobilers and because of this and the location everything is going to be high priced. The High Country Motel was one of the cheaper places to stay but it was very comfortable and the owner/operators were very friendly. The... More

I stayed at the High Country Motel twice in the last month.....renovated rooms, good people, and where else can you stay and watch a bull bison grazing not 100 ft. away while you soak in the hot tub! All is true of the High Country. I've been staying here for nearly 10 years and have never been disappointed.

Cute, very small town! When we went to check in, I heard this voice from the ceiling say, "I'll be right down" Before I knew it, this man came sliding down a fireman's pole! Very friendly man who was very patient with all my questions about living life in such a small, remote town. The cabin we had was one room... More

Although the facility is right on the highway, there isn't a noise problem because the traffic disappears between 10 pm and the morning. After all, Cooke City has only one road going to nowhere close anyone wants to go to at night. The cabin was very nice. We were in Cabin 2 and there was plenty of room for the... More

My family and I have enjoyed staying here numerous times in the past several years, including stays before the current owners took ownership. We have stayed in both the motel rooms and the cabins. Its location suits us completely. Yellowstone Park a few miles in one direction and Bear Tooth Highway in the other. Located across street from new Visitor... More
