The Alpine, while not elegant, is very clean, functional, and comfortable. It seems to be right out of the 50's. However, if you can't find lodging in Yellowstone, it's an excellent alternative. People get up early, so you'll hear cars leaving, but get up early yourselves to see animals in the park and you won't mind.

Stayed here as part of a group tour of Yellowstone. Rooms are clean, bed was comfortable. Perhaps best to stay on 2nd floor, as we could hear every footfall from above (couldn't hear talking, though). This is a pretty basic place, but if all you want is a place to take a bath/shower and to sleep, it's fine.

Large, clean rooms and friendly staff can't overcome loud, early-rising neighbors and worn out, threadbare bedding. I'll try some other option in the future, especially at a $115/night rate. The room had plenty of towels, the carpet was in great shape and the shower was clean. Nice to have a microwave and mini-fridge too. Front porch and solid wooden room... More

We stayed at the Alpine Motel in the course of a Natural Habitat Adventures winter tour of Yellowstone, and we take the work of our guides that it is the best alternative in Cooke City. It was warm and clean and comfortable. However, I would suggest that you avoid the rooms that are farthest from the lobby area, as the... More

We enjoyed staying in Cooke City in winter, it was so quiet and very pretty with all the snow and is a good base for the northern part of Yellowstone. Our room was spacious, very warm and welcoming, the heater was easy to adjust, a bath/shower, basin in the bedroom, couldn't get wifi in the room but it was available... More

We had 4 guys on a sled trip. Stayed in the 'suite' with two bedrooms and a kitchen. Was plenty of room for sure. Would like it if they had an option of having at least one bedroom where there is a set of bunk beds and a single or double, rather than two queens. I slept in the Living... More

Nice room. It was clean but a little worn around the edges. Our room had a fridge and microwave. The mattress could be updated as it seemed to have done its time. Nice, quiet location - although we were there on a Sunday night. Due to the location and noise of snowmobiles, I bet Fri and Sat are not so... More

Centrally located, the Alpine offers up rooms at a great rate. If it's just you and your special lady (or guy), they have some single-bed rooms that are probably the cheapest you can find in Cooke, with no sacrifice in comfort. Owners/management are very pleasant and easy to work with. Walls seem to be a little thin. Got woken up... More

I used to stay regularly at the Alpine. I lived and worked in Yellowstone for 5 years and Alpine Motel was one of my regular weekend getaways. The property is well managed, rooms are clean, and rates are affordable. Cooke City often gets overlooked as a place to stay when visiting the park, but those that try it find out... More

My wife and I booked in here for a night as we were staying in Old Faithful and it was too far to drive from there to the Lamar Valley for dawn, which is when you need to be there to stand the best chance of viewing the wildlife. Accommodation is basic but OK and what you would expect of... More
