We have been both volunteers and guests at Pine Butte, most recently Sept. 2014. The staff and preserve employees are so knowledgeable and accommodating. Our lives are so much richer for the experiences over at least 10 different trips to the ranch. We encountered everything from bears to Montana history to freak snowstorms. It is hard to describe the quaint... More

Went on this vacation with my best friend, hoping for some nice riding experiences. Wound up being a life changing week for me. I totally decompressed over the week, unconnected from my phone and computer. The staff are some of the most interesting and genuine people I've met in ages- they were extremely helpful, and would take the time to... More

on one side you have breath taking scenery of rolling prairie grasslands (America how it naturally should be) and a horizon as far as the eyes can see, and on the other side the most powerful mountains emerging from the earth. Pine Butte Guest Ranch is one of a kind and an absolute MUST visit! It's that time away you... More

We visited in July 2014 and would highly recommend TNC’s Pine Butte Ranch. The Pine Butte Guest Ranch staff are some of the best people we’ve ever met. They are kind, courteous, smart, and joyful. We were constantly asked how we were enjoying our visit and if we needed anything. Plus, their love of Montana and the work of The... More

Our room was small and dark and close to the main lodge - we had no feel of being outdoors. Not all cabins are alike, yet they are all priced the same. We were first to book and got a bad cabin - go figure. Very pricey. The naturalist showed up on day 3 of a 5 day week, but... More

What a destination! I just spent a week at PBGR. The staff were incredibly nice. The food was so yummy--home cooked meals for 20! The cabins are low-key and comfy. One night I curled up in bed, with soft clean linens and lots of pillows, with a fire in the fireplace and thought I was in heaven. This place is... More

My husband and I recently attended a photography tour of Pine Buttes Guest Ranch and the surrounding area. The people that work at this ranch are truly dedicated to your happiness. The food is amazing! The cabins are cozy and very comfortable with fireplaces and views of the ranch. This place offers hikes, photography tours, horseback riding and a lot... More

It was my first visit to Montana, and first time seeing the Rockies (I'm an east coast-er). Pine Butte provided an authentically western US experience. From the guided hikes to the quaint cabins with fire places, and the SCENERY...it was breathtaking. The food and staff were 5 star too. Great place to unplug and drink in the fresh air!

I was part of a big group here on a work retreat and was totally impressed with the ranch and its staff. The location is breathtaking and truly remote. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I'm a vegetarian and was worried I'd spend the whole week eating grilled cheese and PBJ... not an issue. The kitchen cooked three great meals... More

I have visited quite a number of guest ranches in Montana and Pine Butte is by far the best. The staff is very friendly and will do anything to make one's stay comfortable. The food is to die for and the activities are numerous and varied so everyone can enjoy their stay. The landscape is absolutely beautiful and very peaceful.... More
