This is an old, historic, downtown building. Parking is on the street but ample and free. Rooms are on the second floor but quite a few stairs to get up there due to the high ceilings. The bathrooms are across the hall, but I never had to wait for one and most of them have tubs and showers in addition... More

A fine refurbished old hotel, with interesting old photos hanging around and good ambiance. The bar is welcoming, with some good beers on tap and excellent fried trout on the menu. Breakfast comes with the room, but there's no choice of what you get. We had good fried eggs, underdone pancakes, and ridiculously uncooked bacon. Breakfast not withstanding, I'd stay... More

This hotel is an authentic recreation of a period hotel. Old fashioned bathrooms, sitting rooms at the stair landings, gorgeous photographic art work scattered throughout. Thankfully, beds, heating and a/c and plumbing has been upgraded. But all the character of an old fashioned hotel remains, including great service and lovely restaurant. My sisters and I truly loved this hotel and... More

It is a historic preservation hotel that has been restored The owner has managed to keep much of the original look intact while adding modern upgrades such as Cable TV and air-conditioning. The rooms are quaint and furnished with some antiques Some rooms have private baths There is a central shower/bathroom area with ample... More

We were told about the Grand Hotel by friends that were caught in a winter storm on their way home from a visit in Denver. Last fall we took a trip into Southern Montana with the intention of staying at the Grand. Although it's rustic we found our room more than adequate, comfortable and quiet. They have a neat bar... Big Timber is in a beautiful area and lucky to have this old historic and remodeled hotel. We come for the dining though. Very good for rural America! Quasi gourmet really, this is just off I-90 an beats the heck out of any fast food franchise!

A well preserved and updated facility. Some of the furniture in the room was well used but everything was clean and functional. The dining room was a wonderful experience (a little pricy) but a great place to eat. Walk around the downtown for a walk through history after your wonderful dinner. This is an excellent starting point for touring Yellowstone.

One night stop on way from Glacier to Yellowstone. We wanted to cross the Beartooth Highway so this wonderfully old fashioned hotel in the small town of Big Timber made for a great place to break the journey. We "splurged" ($100) on one of the bigger rooms and found ourselves in a large suite complete with fridge and comfy settee.... More

Amazing place. Shared bathrooms no problem as there are so many one seems like your own! If you are there for more than a few days consider the apartment , more modern annexe at back but has own sitting room and kitchen etc. the restaurant and bar area is fantastic , with real cowboys in every night , you almost... We loved the hotel so much on our way to go backpacking that we booked a stay for after we were done camping as well. Don't think twice about the shared baths - its like staying at your friends' house with beautiful clawtooth antique bathtubs. Make sure to eat dinner at the fab restaurant - we loved the house specialties... More
