This hotel only has two floors for guests. The other floors are strictly for club members. There is a humidor for cigars that can be purchased in the lobby. Could smell cigar smoke on first floor. There is a dress code for restaurant. This old building has lots of character and architecture. Unfortunately, the rooms lack modern conveniences. Large, clean... More

I stayed at the Missouri Athletic Club in the summer of 2013, but had a very positive experience. First, they had an awesome happy hour that we were invited to with very reasonably priced cocktails. The parking had in and out priviliges, I was easily able to walk to the arch, casino, and a longer stroll the ball park. The... More

We were assigned this room by Priceline while in town to watch a Cardinals game. The public spaces are beautiful. While our room was a bit dated, it was very clean and comfortable. The main downfalls of the room were bathroom and access to plugs. There is no place to hang wet towels in the bathroom and the tile floor... More

Stayed here for a friday night cards game. Walking distance from busch stadium was nice, right next to the arch. Rooms were below average. I understand that its an old building, but our room came with a smell. The bathroom was clean but appeared dirty, just due to age. I felt a little ripped off by parking. I was asked... More

I stayed at this place for 2 nights; just an average place to stay. Although the lobby is impressive, I was disappointed with the bath room which had minimum features. The service was very good. They do charge for the garage ($12 per night). Every time you get in, you need to get the ticket stamped so that you can... More

We stayed here two nights. It was fine but the bathroom definitely was outdated and needs some help. The shower was very small and cramped and the tile was cracked in places. The door to the room was very beat up and the walls are very thin. I wish the door had a security lock on it as I did... More

My family rented two rooms here on a vacation road trip while stopping in St. Louis. We thoroughly enjoyed this place. There is a dress code for certain parts of the facility, but casual attire is allowed in most parts. Still it doesn't hurt to have a collared shirt available. The building is a historic gem that has been renovated... More

This was a real surprise. Had trouble finding it because it just has a huge "M" above the door, but once inside you would be forgive for thinking you had just stepped onto a 1920s film set. Very beautiful and evocative. Do take a look at the ballroom upstairs - your imagination will run riot. The hotel was immaculate and... More

You probably wouldn't even think this place is a hotel if you walked past it on the street. Its actually a private members club wit a several hotel rooms on a couple of the upper floors, but don't let that put you off. The hotel lobby is fabulous - once through the revolving doors you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Missouri Athletic Club Downtown, is a unique, yet classic fixture of St. Louis' historic Washington Avenue since 1904. Original mahogany wood, rich leather, and lavish hand carved detailing, lay the ambiance of this one of a kind dining, lodging, athletic, and social experience. Both the Jack Buck Grill and Sportman's Club, each house their own bar atmosphere, and are known across Missouri as the best in the business for top-notch American cuisine from Chef Barton Phillips. One of the sole remaining establishments in St. Louis where cigars can both be purchased and enjoyed in traditional luxury club atmosphere, the experience is one-of-a-kind, the Art Gallery on the Lobby level is breathtaking, and the facilities are extensive to say the least. Best of all, you don't have to be a member to stay overnight in one of our 74 guest rooms and suites, and take advantage of our prime downtown location! Within walking distance to Busch Stadium, the Edward Jones Dome, St. Louis Gateway Arch, and the banks of the Mississippi River, and easily accessible to several major highways and St. Louis' own Metro Link commuter system. Athletic facilities include: a wide variety of Nautilus machines and free weights, basketball court, squash, handball, and racquetball courts, 25-yard heated indoor pool, as well as a sauna and whirlpool to relax those muscles after a full body workout. We also house a running track, full Pro Shop, and even our very own indoor golf simulator with over 50 real-life golf courses for you to "escape" to during winter months. We also offer a multitude of massage therapies, mani/pedicures, and personal training sessions. With an old-fashion feel barber barber shop on the second level, and fully equipped locker rooms, we are a one stop hub for everything that a guest-on-the-go could possibly ever need. And if your needs or agendas still hanker for more, stop by the 24-hour reception desk, where our highly trained and seasoned guest services team can lead the way to anything else that your visit calls for. Other amenities include, complimentary wireless internet throughout, complimentary business center, card playing room, billiards room, and possibly the most awe-inspiring, elegant, and distinguished ballroom in St. Louis, the MAC's very own Missouri Room. ... more   less
