This is a monster of a building constructed in the late 19th Century by a local very wealthy entrepreneur to house his family, including eight sons! It has been restored to perfection with each large suite featuring period furnishings and modern ensuite baths (So happy this owner avoided the urge to retain those awkward claw foot tubs!!). WiFi connectivity was... More

The Mansion is absolutely beautiful. Wonderful restoration. And a lovely older neighborhood. Having stayed in numerous B&Bs in Missouri we were a bit surprised at the lack of 'welcome' from the owner. The front door was locked and we waited on the porch a bit after knocking, not quite sure if we even had the right door. The hostess, Sarah,... More

We just stayed in the Whiskey Mansion in St. Joseph while on a trip to visit family. There were four of us (two kids aged 5 and 8) and we couldn't have found a better place to stay! Olin is an attentive and amazing owner (and chef) and Mark who helped on the weekend was wonderful as well. The house... More

Very lovely restored home. The rooms were so well equipped with anything you would possibly need. The breakfast was delicious. Mark was incredibly informative and a great host. Only negative mark would be for the neighborhood. Hopefully the others in the neighborhood will get on board with restoring their homes as well.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here for a few nights in early July. A very charming place that makes you feel as if you stepped back in time. It was clean and well maintained. We felt safe in the neighborhood, the wife and I even took a late evening stroll to get a feel for the area on foot rather than... More

We are a family of six passing through St. Joe's on our way to the Badlands. We were greeted by the innkeeper, Mark, and he was friendly and informative about the property and our stay. Our 4 kids stayed in the two maids rooms which shared a bathroom which was perfect for them. My husband and I stayed in Ferdinand's... More

I loved the Whiskey Mansion. The only reason I didn't give it a five star is because of the questionable neighborhood. The breakfast was wonderful. The home was beautiful. Our host was friendly and helpful. A great place to stop if you are traveling highway 36 across our country.

Charming home, unfortunately located in a dangerous neighborhood. After checking in, we wanted to take a walk and enjoy the area. Within 2 blocks from the B&B, we observed several drug deals . The owner laughed a hearty laugh when we told him about this experience. My advice, do not stroll through the neighborhood-especially after dark. Our room was comfortable... More

Thank you for staying with us at Whiskey Mansion! I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We are located in an emerging neighborhood in a historical rivertown. While there are many buildings and properties that have been restored, there are many that have not. That said, we have never had any "dangerous" experiences here by staff or... More

Whiskey Mansion Bed and Breakfast is a beautifully restored mansion. My husband and I were able to book a room at the last minute and had a lovely time. We stayed two nights. The mansion was charming and immaculate and the food was amazing. Our host Mark was extremely courteous and helpful. Thank you, Mark for a providing such a... More

Lovely house, iffy neighborhood after dark. Breakfast was perfect, room was comfortable, clean and charming. Owner was away, so our hostess was Sara who talked incessantly. We were polite, of course, but as she warmed to us her topics of conversation became inappropriate for the situation (political issues). It was quite uncomfortable. We had some severe weather warnings, and Sara... More
