The Sabates family are wonderful hosts. Friendly, accommodating, helpful and attentive to detail. The art work in the house is worth a close look and pics. You will enjoy sending pics to friends of both the art and architecture of the home. It's within walking distance of the Plaza shopping district of Kansas City and close to cultural landmarks and... Located close to the Nelson, Oak Street Mansion lives up to its artsy hype. The art in the entrance gallery was interesting as were the choices in the other main rooms. We stayed in the Abstract room and enjoyed the style of the room. The Sabates are wonderful hosts in this marvelous old mansion within walking distance of the Nelson... More

Whether you are an art lover or not, this is a great place to get away and celebrate! We enjoyed New Years Eve weekend with friends. We visited and played games by the cozy fire in the living room. the whole place is fabulous, very comfortable and quiet. The rooms are the perfect size (large) and have the amenities you... More

What a beautiful, peaceful, and interesting place to stay! Let's start with the grounds.. We pulled into a shady and very well designed area. The artwork was unique and the gardens were meticulously groomed. One of the owners was outside putting up Christmas lights and greeted us with a smile. We received a tour of the home and viewed the... More

We had a terrific anniversary weekend in Kansas City and selected Oak Street Mansion based on the other TripAdvisor reviews and they didn't do the place justice! Not only is the home beautiful, but it was terrific meeting John, Marcia, and Roland who shared the history of the home and the renovation effort. You can tell it was a labor... More

My wife and I stayed here and absolutely loved it. Great location walking distance to Nelson Atkins and Kemper museum, just down the road from Westport and The Plaza, nice grounds, new rooms / modern amenities, great staff, gourmet quality breakfast and nightly happy hours with great conversation. The art is fantastic. We typically stay in nice hotels but wanted... More

My girlfriend and I took a road trip around the Midwest and stayed in Kansas City for two nights, both at the Oak Street Mansion. We found the room to be very nice, with a few really thoughtful perks. The entire house and grounds are beautifully decorated and curated. John looked after us and made a phenomenal breakfast, gave a... More

This is a no-brainer - either stay in a nondescript downtown hotel, pay for parking and a high occupancy tax OR stay in an art gallery / mansion, with free convenient parking, a wonderfully hospitable host, lovely happy hour each evening and an outstanding breakfast. The Oak Street Mansion was the perfect place for our weekend family reunion with many... More

We stayed in the abstract room and it was wonderful! It had a window seat overlooking the beautifully landscaped grounds, the most comfortable bed we have slept on, and a beautiful bathroom featuring a giant shower and a whirlpool bathtub. The art was beautiful, the breakfast was delicious, and the Sabates family were fabulous hosts!
