This charming and spacious old cottage is just a few metres from the picturesque Richmond village shops. It is convenient to Hobart, Port Arthur and MONA . The cottage has a cozy fire for cool evenings (even in January!). Wifi is available (ask Julie).

We arrived, having seen the pictures, so we knew it was beautiful, but it just kept amazing us. Everything was so much more wonderful than we ever expected ; the garden was glorious with flowers in bloom and lovely fragrances everywhere, the rooms had lovely extra touches like flowers, free postcards, supplies of toiletries / food that were unexpected, and... Stayed here with mother and friend for one night. Set in lovely garden setting this is an historic cottage. It has two bedrooms, the second with twin beds. Separate lounge room with log fire. Only issue is that to use the bathroom and the toilet you need to go through the main bedroom which was awkward for the person sleeping... More

What a wonderrful lesson in history. We stayed here for part of our honeymoon, though it would suit a family perfectly. Opposite the bridge and the park and less than a 5 minute walk from town, if you want a self-contained place to roam around, this is the place. Easy to use fireplace, a huge kitchen and garden area. We... More

What a place to go back in time and just relax. We wasn't sure if it would suit us but once we arrived, unpacked and met Julie we couldn't believe how homely it felt we had two fantastic nights there. Julie is fabulous we didn't want for anything. We plan on coming back later this year thankyou so much Julie... More

The wooden floorboards creaked. The doorways were low. The sandstone doorstep was worn. Where else in Australia could you have the privilege of spending the night in a warm, cosy historic cottage such as Laurel Cottage? If only those floorboards could talk. If you want to stay in this much sort after property I suggest you book as early as... More

9 nights in Tasmania 3 different self contained properties and ONE truly shinning star. Geraldine cottage was streets ahead of the others and oddly enough the cheapest by far, we wish we had stayed the whole 9 nights. The attention to detail the inclusions the level of comfort was faultless we cannot recommend this property highly enough.

This was a charming and thoroughly enjoyable place to stay in very historic Richmond. Not even the noisy school playing field next door distracted from the wonderful atmosphere of cosiness and history that this place generated. Julie, the owner, was a lovely host greeting us when we arrived and making sure we had everything we needed. There are plenty of... More

Immaculately presented, fully restored, convict-built cottage. My wife and I stayed in this wonderful cottage and we were blown away by the warmth and memories it was able to generate. Lovingly restored, memories of our grandparents homes came flooding back. Loved the old pictures on the wall and the warmth of the fire. Surrounding garden was one to die for!... More

If you are after the quintessential 'convict built' authentic accommodation in the heart of the south east of tassie, then this place if ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!! The township/village of Richmond is lovely, quiet, within easy drive to Hobart & Port Arthur & Sorell & New Norfolk .... but still an easy going day trip to the Huon Valley and the centre... More
