Richmond is the place to stay if you prefer peace & quiet, but still want to visit Hobart as it's only 20 mins away from the city. And if you stay in Richmond, The Barracks is the place to stay at. My friends and I (4 altogether) stayed at their self-catering cottage which was very well-appointed, very comfortable and spacious.... more
We stayed in The Retreat at Richmond Barracks for a night prior to flying from Hobart airport the next morning which was a quick, easy drive away. I just wished we'd stayed longer than one night as this was the nicest accommodation we stayed in during our 11 night trip in Tassie. And the plentiful breakfast basket made it really... more
Stayed here on our last night in Tassie in the "Retreat" cottage.THe cottage was charming,spacious,clean,full of character,delightful etc etc!!The location is excellent,a 2 minute walk to the historic bridge and a 2 minute walk to the centre of Richmond with its delightful little shops.The owners are very friendly and helpful and a lovely breakfast basket is delivered to your room... more
