Very friendly hosts, perfect location in beautiful historic village of Richmond. Idyllic surrounds and ideal location for exploring Hobart and surrounding area. Decided to stay here based on positive reviews, and was not disappointed. Generous breakfast basket provided, but found other meals in the area a bit pricey (understandable - a tourist area). The rooms are equipped with fridge, tv,... More

We stayed in the two bedroom apartment, Lady Esther. It was great, comfortable, clean, and well appointed. It was obvious the owners care about the place as shown by the little touches. As others have said the location is great and is a short walk into town. Richmond is one of the better "old" towns in Tasmania that we saw.... More

The location was an easy walk to all the sites of Richmond which made this cottage a highlight. On the outside it looks rustic and authentic but on the inside we had all the comforts of home, digital TV, well appointed kitchen and snuggly beds. The (teenage) children loved the loft style second bedroom. The continental breakfast was generous. Would... More

Of all the places we stayed at on our 2 weeks around beautiful Tasmania, the Richmond Barracks was the one place we slept solidly for 4 nights, the bed & pillows were magnificent, it felt like a little home away from home. It was so quiet & we had everything we needed, Liz the owner let us use her private... More

I have today returned from traveling around the beautiful state of Tasmania, while we stayed in many places in the 2 weeks we travelled, i found that Richmond Barracks was the most enjoyable place to stay and a high-light for our group of 4 adults,we had 2 of the cottages. We stayed for 4 nights and host Liz and her... More

We stayed at the Beautiful Richmond Barracks in the Lady Esther 2 bedroom cottage on a 3 week trip to Tasmania. On arrival at the Richmond Barracks we were greeted by the owners Liz & Martin. They have to be 2 of the most pleasant, helpful and friendly people anyone could meet and during our stay nothing was too much... More

This lovely historical B&B style premises is in the charming small town of Richmond near Hobart. We had our own self contained unit with all mod cons, ensuite tv, heater/cooler. Martin & Liz looked after us so well it felt like family! The building is a converted barracks from the 1800's during the time of convict deportations to austrailia. Beautiful... More
