Stayed in the area for a wedding and came to the Pack Horse Inn twice. On both occasions the food was excellent, and the staff were so friendly we immediately settled in. We returned on the Sunday after the wedding and ended up staying for the entire day chatting at the bar and soaking up the atmosphere by the fire.... More

Faultless stay at the Pack Horse Inn, having never been before we felt instantly welcome and the staff could not do enough for us. Spotless and very comfortable room and amazing food - would recommend to anyone and will definitely return. A big thank you to Linny the landlady and her staff for making our stay a memorable experience.

We recently stayed at the Pack Horse Inn during a weekend in November. To start off with our room was brilliant, big comfy bed with a wonderful ensuite and all the added extras you could think of. It was a very cold night in the North but the room was toasty and warm throughout our stay. The pub and restaurant... More

We called in on the Pack Horse for a quick meal and found a real gem. Very friendly, Emily was so friendly and helpful and the chef brought out some home made cheese scones just to try. The food was of a much higher standard than your average Public house. Well worth a visit and we will defiantly return.

I don't write bad reviews but people who can be bothered to research a place before staying should beware this place. Web site promises clean crisp comfortable rooms.. I paid for three rooms and they all were very low rent... They did tell me they were going to refurb the place but that didn't help my situation. My son slept... More

Visited on a Monday evening, so quiet. The waitress seemed inexperienced, initially attempting to seat 3 of us on a table for 2 when there were many spare tables. Then seated at an appropriately sized table, but by the kitchen door, not ideal. The decor of the restaurant was basic & seemed to lack atmosphere (perhaps due to the Monday... More

My son and I had lunch here recently we couldn't fault it at all, we were seated in the conservatory which was nicely decorated and looked out onto the garden, I had the battered haddock which came with hand cut chips and mushy peas and tartar sauce, my son had the pork which came with potatoes and a very good... We visited here for dinner as we were staying just down the road in a cottage. We were greeted by the bar staff who were very friendly, seated quickly, drinks served and order taken efficiently. I was halfway through my starter when the waitress arrived with my main course! She said she was new and took it away. When she... More

We stayed here last month as we were at a wedding at nearby Ellingham Hall. It is a lovely little olde worlde pub. Beautiful rooms, with lovely added touches. Breakfast was lovely and the beds comfy so all we needed. The landlady was very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed for a week at nearby Doxford Cottages, went to the Pack Horse Inn for dinner on our first night. Seated in The Snug, very impressed with lovely dining environment, very friendly staff and excellent food with creative tastes and flavours. Enjoyed it so much we returned later in the week and were delighted again. We would thoroughly recommend it.
