If you are just using the room to stay and sleep, and want to be central, this is a good place. They also have a nice breakfast in the morning; biscuits and gravy, some eggs, bread, yogurt, etc. And a very small place to eat it, unless you take it back to your room.
It is on a hill, and sometimes getting in and getting out is a challenge. The room was fairly clean, but still missed somethings. Also, they were doing some remodeling, so depending on if you were trying o sleep or do other things, might have a little noise during the day.
All in all, not a bad place if you just need a place to stay as you are out and about. The fridge and microwave was a nice thing to have. Buy bottle water or snacks and store them.
Very friendly staff.
We got a “courtesy call” asking how our room was and when I informed the front desk of how nasty the room was I got a rude “well do you want us to send someone over to look at it”. I of course said no; they obviously know the kind of establishment they run there. I’m sure every room looked the same way. I guess I expected too much after the glowing reviews found here on tripadvisor, but I suppose you get what you pay for, which isn’t much. I went expecting small town charm/hospitality and got a rundown motor lodge that looked at least 40 years old… never again!
-The rooms were of average size (a bit small, but ok).
-No security peep hole.
-The bed spread had a big hole in it that looked like it was burned (non-smoking rooms).
-The TV cabinet had a door on it that was broken...we had to be very careful so the door would not come completely off.
-The bathtub whirlpool bath worked well but we had to scrub it ourselves before using it because of the dark stains/film on the bottom of it.
-The breakfast room is indeed cozy (small). Saturday morning breakfast was not enjoyable due to the number of guests using the facility. Roughly one third of the people having breakfast had to stand while holding their tray with one hand and eating, or they had to sit on a step somewhere with their food in their lap while blocking foot traffic for those walking down from from their rooms.
-This hotel advertises free wireless internet...not so. There was NO wireless internet (checked by two separate devices). When we asked management why there was no internet the response was that the wireless was being rewired. Hmm, sounded strange to me.
For $80/night I feel we should of received a bit more for the money. The accomodations were, overall, ok...just a bit disappointing.
