This was my husband's and my first time to stay at a bed and breakfast.
We were a little wary of staying in someone else's home in such close proximity with strangers. To our delight, we felt completely at home.
At Shadowlawn, the view of the water framed by live oak trees draped with Spanish moss is beautiful. We spent most of our time there on the screened-in porch under the ceiling fans watching the boats go by in the distance and the pelicans swooping in to roost on the old pier pilings. The bedroom was spacious and the bed was quite comfortable.
The Wilsons put on a great spread for breakfast. Homemade snacks were provided as well. You can stay out in the common areas of a bed and breakfast if you wish to socialize, or you can stay in your room if you wish to keep to yourselves. While sitting on the porch, we made some new friends. We will look for B&Bs to stay in when we travel in the future.
