As previous reviewers have said, the hotel is beautiful in the lobby. However, when you arrive, the A/C for the entire first floor and parts of every other floor is out, and has been for a MONTH! The room was cool, but reminded me of a 50's Holiday Inn with all rooms facing the pool and very run down. We... more

I travel almost every month on Government business & have been doing so for 5-1/2 years. The Edison Walthall is one of my fondest memories, it was recommended to me by a coworker who worked in our Jackson office prior to transferring 3 years ago. I arrived on a Wednesday morning & stayed 2 nights. A new Chrysler 300 with... more

I had to stay here because I am a flight attendant and this is where our company lays us over. We absolutely can not stand this hotel --it is the worst one we have. It is so dirty --the wallpaper is peeling, the paint is coming off the wall, and the carpet is so, so stained. We are the only... more

I just got back from a conference at the hotel. Overall, it was an OK stay but there were some issues. First thing we noticed was the very tiny parking spaces. We were in a minivan and had a hard time fitting. Every third space had a pillar in the space and every level had at least 2 reserved parking... more

As I write this, I am sitting in my hotel room here at the Edison Walthall that has no air conditioning or heating. My room smells of mildew and old musty furniture and carpet. There are 2 lamps in my room that have no light bulbs. I have opened the windows so that I can breathe. There is no phone... more

Poor maintenance plagues the hotel. Checked in late at hotel to what looked like an almost empty hotel (2-3 cars in parking lot). Put in room in corner of hotel with window facing a wall, drapes held up by coat hangers, bathroom lights didn't work, shower curtain moldy, thermostat broken (couldn't adjust temp - so room was friged - opened... more

Upon walking into the lobby, I was impressed with the decor and thought this might be a nice place to stay. Once we reached our room in the tower, it smelled of wet dog. I figured it was because the a/c had not been turned on. We turned on the a/c and then left the room only to return to... more

The Edison Walthall is an old hotel with a beautiful lobby. Dark wood paneling and reproduction furniture appropriate for the time period add a dimension of elegance not found in modern hotels. We were quite impressed with the lobby, dining area, and bar/lounge. Now for the problems. I had trouble reconciling all of the reviews that I had read because... more

Someone else made the reservation for me at this hotel and I had to stay there. When I read the reviews I was really worried. The place was fine. It is not a 5 star resort but a downtown hotel. The lobby was very nice. I ate at the restaurant and the food was fine. (I only had a salad.)... more

I had a wonderful time staying at this hotel. The airport shuttle was on time to pick me up, and the driver was really nice. I'm glad, as I was tired and worn out from a layover in Atlanta which kept on going, and going, and going. The workers were all very friendly, my room was very clean, although the... more
