You don't go here for luxury or service. What you get is a unique setting (think post-Civil War indentured workers quarters), a funky room with newspaper clippings and concert fliers, light fixtures that may or may not work, and a Robert E. Lee lamp. So why stay? Because it has real atmosphere. And the view from my second floor room... More

What a great place to have found and stayed. Very bluesy! Checked in and the folks were all nice.... got to the room and enjoyed the old feel of the Cotton Gin Bin rooms....very comfortable and clean--no issues. Has bar and Grill (Rust) onsite and had some awesome pulled pork....they also had a musician "The Last Tycoon" who was awesome---check... More

We had read a piece somewhere about Shack Up Inn and had it on our list of maybes for our trip. Then we were chatting with a couple and they told us you have to go. And we did. Reservations seem to be a must. There is a two night minimum for Friday & Saturday. I’m not certain I’d want... More

My son stayed here for a Blues camp. He stayed in a cotton gin bin. It was so cool. Looked like a nice hotel on the inside. Spacious room with a refrigerator and coffee maker. Great air conditioning. Comfortable bed. Flat screen TV with cable. Even had a little balcony with two chairs. Very spacious. Neat Blues memorabilia hanging on... More

We stayed in the penthouse. There was no live music that night, which was too bad, but we had lots of fun walking around the peaceful surroundings and drinking good beer and eating good food. We will be back.

Great time, very unusual, a lot of fun! Love the setup. Having a blues club on site is fun also. We had twelve in out group, it was fun to see how every room was different. The people were wonderful to work with, so helpful. Beds were comfortable and clean.

In February a group of us were looking for a three day trip. It worked up that we would go to the Shack Up Inn for our 28th wedding anniversary. Seeing the pictures does not do the place justice. It is very quant and rustic. When we arrived latter in the evening and got to our shack the AC was... More

We spent 3 nights here. We absolutely loved it. It was exactly what we were expecting, a cosy, authentic shack, rickety and worn, but comfortable too. The air conditioning was a massive plus, as the heat reached 96 most days. We enjoyed sitting on the porch drinking a beer after sunset, looking over the fields and towards the old plantation.... What a fabulously unique place to stay. We found out about this place from friends who wanted to stay here but couldn't fit it into their schedule. I'm glad they told us about it as it's probably one of the most unique and different places I've ever stayed. The shacks are very well equiped (much more than I expected it... More

Words cannot begin to describe the vibe you get when you stay here. It's weird, fun, exciting, unusual, spooky, serene, eclectic and even comfortable (like visiting an old friend that you haven't seen in years but don't feel akward around). Literally my only disappointment was no music going on the night we were there, but we knew that ahead of... More
