By no means a Ritz Carleton. BUT if you are into blues, the area, and history, this is the place to stay. Zee is warm and friendly, hugging you and greeting you upon arrival. She told us she had been waiting for us. The building had been a hospital and there is much history regarding musicians who have stayed in... More

We stayed here for one night and it was a fabulous experience so much history! The people that have stayed here is unbelievable. We chose the Sam Cooke room! Zee had kept everything as it was from years ago and I love that she's done that. Zee herself is just wonderful and kind and full of hugs and southern hospitality,... More

I am so glad I stayed here. Zee gave me the best hug ever when I checked in. I stayed in the John Lee Hooker room, and it slept great. Everything was super clean and it's within walking distance of the Delta Blues Museum and, best of all, Red's juke joint. I'll be returning and will stay here again. I... More

We stayed here in the off season and this is such a neat place to stay at because it has so much history behind it. Started as an African American Hospital and converted into a boarding house where plenty of blues legends stayed as they played in town. This place is great if you enjoy staying in historical sights, every... More

I had a wonderful weekend in Clarksdale, the center of the Delta blues, and staying at the Riverside Hotel was the highlight. Every early blues musician you have ever heard of stayed or lived in these rooms. Before it was a hotel, the Riverside was a hospital, and the fact that Bessie Smith died in the room across the hall... More

I must admit that when I first pulled up outside the Riverside for our 2 night stay I thought what had we let ourselves in for, because this isn't a regular hotel in a regular hotel location - it's actually much much more than that as Ill explain. We were greeted by the fabulous Zee who gave us all a... More

This is THE place to go to for southern hospitality, tons of history and local insight into whats going on in Clarksdale. Zee is a brilliant host and spending time with her on the front porch sharing stories while she recants the rich musical history of her hometown was a real memory maker. Great place, great ambience (though the actual... More

Well worth it for the history, the proximity to the blues venues in town, and the Delta Blues museum. It's also run by a great family who are extremely helpful and nice. Stayed last fall for the first time and will be staying again in August. Probably will stay again in the future as I usually stay in Clarksdale a... More

This historic site is a must see on the Blues Trail. Don't be put off by the "weathered" look of the exterior- it's what's inside that counts. You'll be welcomed with a hug by hostess "Zee" and maybe her mom, Joyce. Every room has a history- we chose NOT to stay in the room Bessie Smith died in... We chose... More

We stayed here because of the historic significance of the place. The owner was very friendly and gave us a lot of insight into the blues culture of the Delta. It was one of the highlights of our visit to the area.
