We have camped at Prairie Island now for the last 3 year. We find it friendly, both seasonal and daily users, quiet (sure at times people will party hardy but isn't that what camping is about enjoying life) most of the time, extremely friendly staff and affordable. This is not a deluxe campground, but it offers everything that is needed... More

This is in response to WisconsinRanger . We are permanent campers at Prairie Island since 2005. Yes we have a garden hose hooked up to the pump, yes the water pressure does get low at times. We don't mind, after all we are "camping". I agree some of the sites are not well designed especially for the "bigger rigs" and... More

My wife and I were passing through on a cross country trip and had stopped to see some friends in town for a few days and found this campground on their recommendation. Upon arriving, we entered the hut that serves as the office and were surprised to find a small convenience store with various camping odds and ends including breakfast... More

Pulled in, looked and then promptly left. This city run campground has seen its better days. It is obvious funds are lacking. The non-water/electric tenting sites have mature shade trees with plenty of grass, if you can determine which site is which. They are not clearly designated. Do not drive your large RV into this area due to the low... More

Just spent a very long, relaxing weekend @ PIC and loved it! Friendly campers and clean, well kept sites. We tent, but still stay in the electric sites that most trailers and motor homes stay at. We had an amazing view of the river because we booked a site near the water. There was plenty of space to spread out,... More

We've been staying at Prairie Island Campground for just about 20 years - and the Campground is always making efforts to improve on what it has to offer. I think our kids love it the best - with all the activities for kids - the scavenger hunts, weekend night movies, and other fun adventures. There's a playground, basketball, miniature golf... More

We have spent many, many years of camping there and have found employees and ownership to always be accomodating to our needs. Floods have come and gone, but they have always managed to have it cleaned up and ready for the camping season to begin. Looking forward to coming again.

We recently stayed at Prarie Island Campground for a family reunion, the conditions were horrible! The showers were dirty, water was freezing cold, all through the day. I did not see any monitoring of the park at all, the neighboring campers were rude , loud and continued to be just as loud after the designated quite time started. We travel... More
