The lock on the door didn't work (couldn't lock the door at all). The carpet was extremely stained, old, nasty looking-bring your slippers! The chair in the room was also very stained. We stayed in the Anderson House to celebrate our anniversary--in a room "with cat." Sadly, the Anderson house has evidently closed its doors (per a Minneapolis Star-Tribune article in March of 2009). We stayed here last weekend. Never again. Poor service, treated rudely by staff (front desk -and- waitstaff). Uncomfortable beds. Paper-thin walls means you can hear every other room's activity. Tiniest bathroom ever. Wallpaper is falling off, probably from decades of water damage. Avoid if you have mold allergies.

The Anderson House is such a treat...do yourself a favor and take a detour and stay here. The hotel is charming with wonderful period furnishings including important things like cloth dolls and photos.
