The romance and nostalgia here are off the charts! This house has not been updated since 1912 and it shows. Life was simpler back then, rooms were smaller and you were more than likely using an outhouse. These days there are bathrooms in the rooms but they are small. This place is ideal if you love wandering around old builtins... More

This is not a luxurious updated B & B. It's a step back in time, a bit like visiting my greatgrandparents' farm. It has the look and feel of authenticity. Rooms in the main building are charmingly decorated and comfortable. The location is wonderful, right on the lake and with a wraparound 4 seasons porch area that allows for hanging... More

We rented the Raymond cabin which had a picture window about 10 feet from the lake. The bathroom was tiny. (When you use the toilet, your knees may be under the sink). The bed loft is accessed by a ladder. So, it is rustic. The breakfast was a yogurt parfait, a muffin and a waffle filled with creme cheese and... More

The Spicer Castle was built in the late 19th century, on the eastern shore of Green Lake. It was last remodeled, if I recall the owner's comments correctly, in 1921. That shows, so don't expect deluxe accomodations. What you can expect is a quiet stay in a comfortable, older facility staffed by very friendly people who are attentive to your... More

We were looking for a "mini-honeymoon" getaway relatively close to home and a Google search helped us to find Spicer Castle Inn. The pictures on the website were extremely accurate in their portrayal of the beautiful scenery and historic home. Neither me nor my husband had ever had a B&B experience, so the atmosphere and experience were so welcome in... More

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights a few weeks to celebrate our 5th anniversary. The "Castle": Exactly what I had in mind when I booked a room at B&B that was converted from a house that was built in the late 1800's. Yes, there is a musty scent as you walk in (1800's!), but after a few... More

The Inn and outbuildings are early 1900's, the floors are creaky. But after all- it was built in the late 1800's as a farm development business. We stayed in John' Cottage. Very small shower, also has a fairly new Jacuzzi tub. Some other reviewers have complained about the "cranky old guy", we found Allen to be polite and very informative.... More

I don't know about you, but I am soooo tired of Econolodge-like and Radisson-type hotel stays. The Spicer Castle Inn is a unique, step-back-in-time experience, with many of the details of life in the early 1900's still in place. Some may say the floors are a bit creaky and some of the bathrooms, too small, and that it hasn't been... More

The inn itself and the rooms and the setting are good. However, the people do not know how to run a business. If you want your wedding to be ruined and to be a disaster for all your guests, this is the place for you. Note: they set the itinerary, which was set up exactly as it should have been... More

Spicer Castle Inn is indeed and old historic place but that doesn't mean being rundown is historic. The owner said the place was last updated in 1912. That isn't something to be proud of. In desperate need of fixing many things. The grounds are sadly neglected also. This place will eventually fall apart and become unsafe if desperate repairs are... More
