Love this place! Jill & Gary the owners are the best! Friendly, warm & welcoming. Will definitely be on the list for repeat visits when we make it to the North Shore. Perfectly positioned between Duluth, Ely, & State parks are close too. Wish we had more time to stay.

My husband and I stayed at the Whispering Pines Motel on a recent trip to the North Shore. The owners were wonderful and the room we had was great. It was clean, well taken care of, and cozy. The owners were so considerate and thoughtful. Our room had everything we needed, and Gary and Jill offered us their grill for... More

The Whispering Pines Motel is a small family owned motel at a great location and price. From the moment we arrived, Jill and Gary were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and had a coffee maker, microwave and small fridge. They wete also very accommodating to anything we needed. There is a fire pit and seating for nightly bonfires... More

We felt welcome here on a midweek visit. The couple that own the motel and are renovating it were friendly and accommodating, even building a fire in the fire pit though we were the only guests. We prefer small, owner-occupied places to chain motels, so this was perfect for us. It's set in a wooded area outside of town--there was... More

We were on a bike trip from Thunder Bay to Duluth and got caught in a storm. The light was turned on as we were riding past the motel and even though they didn't have enough rooms to accommadate all 16 of us they made do with what we had. They even gave us a suite at regular room price... More

Nice, very clean and comfortable. Great owners who only want to see you happy. Good location. Outdoor fire pit really adds that North Woods touch. Liked it there and would definitely stay again. Consider supporting this young couple as they make a go of this business.

We choose this property to stay at for our snowmobile trip. great access to the North Shore Trail System. We reserved the cabin, did not see the motel rooms. 2 adults & a dog. We were very happy with our cabin. Clean, warm & cozy. Lots of wild life on the property as well. The new owners are very friendly... More

Darling tiny cabin right off hiway 61. Perfect for sleeping only! Frig is too small to hold milk and a bottle of coke. Friendly staff. Convenient location. I did not see the motel rooms. This is an older property being upgraded. Ask for Pandoras Box

We stayed here for two nights while we were exploring the North Shore Scenic Drive. It is a very small room and there was no sound proof: We could hear every conversation in the next room. The picture shown on the tripadvisor page is a wrong picture.

Very nice stay for a great price! Like others have said, it a 7 unit motel and a stand alone cottage. The room and grounds are very well kept, very comfortable. Some have said the bathrooms are small. Being 6' tall I found them to be just fine. The location worked out well for us. The room has a coffee... More
