In an old train repair yard, big room and a very nice indoor swimming pool. All the standard fittings you would expect for a Best Western. Breakfast was ok. This one is in a strange area, surrounded by lots of commercial offices/labs, and a hospital. Not good for shopping or eating out unless you want to drive somewhere else. Free... More

I've been working on a long project in downtown St Paul, MN, and have been staying at the Best Western Bandana Square off and on for three months, with the usual duration of my stay being a week at a time. I like it because it's not the usual sterile corporate hotel; it has some atmosphere. Train tracks run through... More

This is and isn't your typical hotel. The hotel is a revamped train repair depot. The huge doors that the trains went through can still be seen as well as the rails in the floor. The hotel is designed to have two "street scape” squares. One has the sitting-breakfast area and the other the pool. Rooms facing these areas and... More

While visiting family here in St. Paul, we found a delightful place to stay nearby. It was formerly a train roundhouse, converted into a comfortable and inviting hotel. The interior is like a small village, with pool, breakfast area and reception desk surrounded by windows of the rooms surrounding the area. We were greeted by the warm hospitality of staff,... More

This motel is built inside a historic brick St. Paul train repair facility. Breakfast area (expanded continental) is designed as a railway station. A fun model train museum/exhibit is in the building next door. Since it is built inside the old structure's walls the rooms' windows do not open and many of the rooms face only the open skylighted lobby... More

Pros: Friendly staff, clean, comfortable rooms, ample continental breakfast, public computer and microwave in lobby Cons: off the beaten path-- only one bar/grill nearby and one gas station with a minimart within walking distance; otherwise you're relegated to using the vending machines located throughout the hotel Bottom line: Nice hotel just not in the most convenient location

Built on the grounds of an old railroad maintenance grounds, you will see evidence of the original building before being turned into a hotel. An interesting small railroad museum is located across a sky walk from the hotel. The breakfast served at no additional cost was great!

My family met here for a weekend in Minneapolis/St. Paul. The hotel was clean and quiet and well maintained. The pool was large enough that there was a number of families using it at one time without feeling crowded. The best aspect was the extensive breakfast. My nephew was in awe at all the choices he had for breakfast. It... More

We were concerned about the 2 1/2 star rating but booked anyway. The staff was very friendly and helpful(Darral and Nicole). The property was unique in a good way and fun. Our room was very spacious, clean and quiet. Very nice pool area. Breakfast was excellant. Thanks for a great experience.

I stayed here for a week while I looked for apartments in St. Paul. It was fine for my purposes, and better than many other Best Westerns. The room was clean and comfortable. The lamp by the desk was bright enough for reading. The bathroom was redone with an old toilet, but clean and serviceable. The towels were a mix... More
