Beautiful hotel and rooms. Watch the bartender who will upgrade your "vodka grapefruit" to Grey Goose without a word at a higher price and count you among a group (even if paying separately) for speaking with others in the bar for a 20% automatic gratuity. Then there's the breakfast staff in the restaurant who are among the slowest ever -... more

My husband and I had our third stay at the St. Paul Hotel in April, and it was just as great as the last two times. We love the St. Paul Hotel for quick one night get-aways when visiting family in the Twin Cities. St. Paul is much more historic than Minneapolis, and the hotel is right on Rice Park,... more

The St. Paul is a wonderful hotel for any stay in St. Paul. The hotel is clean and the staff is very attentive. I stayed one night on a bitterly cold period in St. Paul in January. But the general St. Paul area is much improved and the Winter Carnival was going on outside with charming ice sculpture. Because this... more

Husband and I stayed here because it was close to the Excel Center where we were going to be attending a concert. The hotel is very beautiful. We had booked just a normal king room but were upgraded to the ambassador suite which was very kind of them. So I can only base my review on that room as i... more

This is certainly the best hotel in St. Paul. The employees are friendly, well trained and provide good service. There is a nice man from Nepal (I can't remember his name) who works at the front desk and he was exceptionally helpful. Food in the Grill is excellent. The fitness center is well equipped and has great views. I don't... more

After reading reviews we decided to stay at the St. Paul Hotel on our weekedn trip to the Twin CIties. The hotel is historic and has a certain charm however it is overpriced. The rooms are small and we did not have much of a view. The staff is very helpful. We had a Landmark King room. more

We stayed here overnight for our 10th anniversary. It is a beautiful hotel, but for $199 a night, I didn't think it was that spectacular. We had a standard king room, which was an average size. I was left feeling - this is it for $200?!? When booking the reservation, I was asked if we were celebrating anything. I did... more

I have stayed at the St. Paul nearly a half dozen times, and while it is doubtlessly the best hotel within miles, they have nothing to really compete against. I would venture to say that Des Moines or Omaha have a better range of lodgings than downtown St. Paul. Your next step down would likely be the Crowne Plaza around... more

My wife and I stayed at the St. Paul Hotel for a weekend while in town for a wedding. Our room rate was $159/night and we had a simply excellent stay. All employees with whom I came into contact were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was impeccably clean and the facilities were lovely. I consider this to be one... more

In previous reviews – notably of the Seelbach Hotel in Louisville, KY and the Westin Columbus in Columbus, Ohio - I’ve discussed both the charm and the drawbacks of historic hotels. I’m pleased to say The St. Paul Hotel in St. Paul, Minnesota has all of the positives and none of the negatives. And the hotel’s boast of excellent service... more
