I booked this hotel because we got tickets for a wild game I loved how close it was to the xcel but the hotel could use a once over and the breakfast was probably the worst free breakfast I ever had at a hotel all it had was yogurt frozen strawberries and baked good also had make your own waffles... This little hotel is a step back in time from the overwhelming lobby to the "old world" hotel rooms. Very boutique. The lobby bar requires a ring for service, but, then, it's all yours! Each room is a little different so it's worth the call to make your reservation over the phone. Great friendly staff, very clean and quiet.

5 HBO channels on the 100 plus cable channels. In room Keuring coffee maker (not the cheap one cup machines found now in most hotels), clean hardwoord floors, generous portions of shampoos, etc. , great breakfast in the University Club bar, $10 to use the St. Paul Athletic Club on the 5th floor (24 hour pass), next door to the... We arrived at 4 pm and our room was not ready but we were given an upgrade 20-30 minutes later. The room was spacious but the decor a bit odd- traditional, antique furniture but new modern counter area. Prepare for old hotel sounds and key entry. The lobby is expansive but dark and cold feeling- it could use some color!... More

It was clean, close to the Excel Energy Center, could walk the skywalk to get there and back, but, they really need to put more directions up, got turned around a couple times. It needs major upgrades, and the security end of it is very old fashion, did not feel secure at all. It's a beautiful old building and you... More

Pros- -character (the rooms even have keys, not cards.) -near Pazza Luna -nicely appointed rooms -reasonable rates (although there are fewer services/amenities here) - quiet, despite hardwood floors in rooms. - no bells on elevators, so that added to quiet, but you have to pay attention - they are fast! Cons- - crowded rooms Std king was very crowded with... More

I was surprised with an upgrade from an efficiency to a standard room which was very comfortably sized (no doors hitting anything in any rooms, as someone else reported) and a kitchenette with plates and utensils. The room was quiet and the breakfast hit the spot. The hotel is in an excellent location: restaurants and bars, museums, and other attractions... More

Hotel 340 is a great deal for the flexible traveler. On the positive side, the price is excellent, the free breakfast is good and the WiFi is included (and works!). The access to the Athletic Club for $10 is also a good value. The Standard rooms (the only size I saw) are "New York-small". There isn't room for a queen... More

I was pleasantly surprised by many things this hotel had to offer. First of all, the property is very old, but in a good way! It was an absolutely stunning building. It has not been changed but it has been maintained. With that being said you feel like you've stepped back in time but it is not decrepit or falling... More

It's -35 Celsius. I've driven in from Winnipeg, direct. Upon arriving at the hotel in St. Paul, which was selected by my girlfriend (I am bad at planning), we were immediately greeted by an immense foyer and some seriously elegant decor. There's a damned fireplace roaring in the lobby. The building is immaculate, the bar is stocked with an assortment... More

It is so wonderful to hear that we exceeded your expectations. Thank you for commenting on the assortment of fine liquor in our lobby bar. We hope that you enjoyed your ski trip and will visit us again when you come back to St. Paul. More
