I have seen a few reviews talking about the Kahler Grand Hotel being dirty or the walls paper thin. I had neither of these problems during my recent two night stay. Is it the Peninsula Hotel in downtown Chicago? No. Is it clean and comfortable for a reasonable price? Yes. My room had a microwave and fridge. They had movies... More

This is my third or fourth visit to Kahler Grand. This was a 2 week visit for hospital care. We stayed in an updated room this visit - it was very nice, comfortable and worked very well for the prolonged visit. This was very good value for the fair pricing. Staff was friendly and very responsive to any requests. Pool... More

I stayed in a suite with my mother while she underwent a surgery at the Mayo. We found the room to be ample in size and very comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for treatment at the Mayo.

We go to Mayo clinic once a month for medical apts. We usually stay at the Marriott but thought we would try this hotel instead just to mix things up a bit. I room was dirty, TV didn't work on 2 major network channels they said they would send up a repair man never came. The bathtub had no plug.... More

We choose the Kahler because the Mayo is directly across the street and can use the tunnel if not wanting to go outside. The standard room is like going back to the 1950's but they also have some updated rooms. I would recommend for the convenience.

The Kahler Grand was recommended by Mayo Clinic because of convenience. It is literally right across the street. The room and bathroom were not only old but filthy. Restaurants were closed, and we found we could not go up to the top two floors. When we questioned why, we were told they were for 'international guests'. From the Gonda Builiding... More

One of the main reasons we stayed at the Kahler Grand was the free parking for Mayo patients. Their website still listed this option when we made the reservation. When we checked into the hotel we were told that the policy changed Jan 1st and we had to use a credit card to enter the parking ramp. The charge for... More

Dear Rose-anne, Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback on your stay. We made the change in parking fees late last year. I had thought we had revised all of our websites with the new parking rates. I have our reservations team going through all of our booking websites again to verify all rates and information is... The rooms are terribly noisy, we could hear our neighbors having a normal conversation... and if we watched the same TV station, we could have muted our TV and still hear plain as day what was going on. The bathrooms are what I imagine a jail cell bathroom to be, plus a shower, with no water pressure. We couldn't even... More

Dear kah3, We truly appreciate your feedback and will be sure to share your comments with the hotel staff. Within the last year, we have completely renovated nearly 60 rooms, and we will be continuing to renovate and refresh more. I think you’ll find them larger, more modern, up-to-date, and closer to what you may be looking for. Also, within... More

Hotel in dire need of upgrading. I apologize as have no idea how anyone not related to this hotel could score it any more than 2. That's generous. Walls are paper thin, heat did not work, bathrooms and fixtures disgusting. Linens dated and dirty. If it wasn't for the Mayo, they d be bankrupt. Sorry. Trying to figure out how... More

With medical appointments at the Mayo Clinic, it is outstanding to have a convenient and friendly hotel right there. When there are so many uncertainties with health, it is nice to know where you get to find peace and rest. It is older, but clean and well maintained. Close to food courts... the subway system is fantastic with winter weatger/.
