Still not impressed. The pool temperature was very comfortable, the hot tub a bit too hot (all 7 of us couldn't stand it for long) and there is still no fitness center. Not that I was expecting them to fabricate one since our last stay. LOL. The train is annoying but we've slept in noisier hotels. Breakfast was good-well stocked... More

The hotel is a bit long in the tooth. The staff was pleasant. The rooms a little dingy. The beds just barely comfortable. About what I suspected. All this is ok...until the freight trains start rolling through all night. 4 in our evening from 11pm to 6 am. And since you can toss a rock to the tracks from the... More

We stayed here for parents weekend at Carleton College. The Inn is a short walk across a busy road to the center of town and the campus - so definitely the best location for that, you don't need your car once you get there. Place was fine, room was clean and modern, breakfast included was standard fare and more than... More

I wouldn't stay here again unless it was the only hotel available in Northfield. The AmericInn is better in all respects - nicer rooms, nicer breakfast and quieter. The main issue with the Country Inn is definitely the noise from the trains. We were on the quieter side of the building, but still heard the trains throughout the night. When... More

I'm sorry to hear that your stay wasn't pleasant. Unfortunately there are train tracks that run behind the hotel and when staying in the front of the building they are less noticeable. We are between two intersections and they are required by law to blow the horn which can be annoying at times especially when your trying to sleep. The... More

I checked in right at check in time, and found my room to be newly renovated and was very nice. I just had started unpacking and all of the sudden my door opened and maintenance was about to walk in as I was changing - no knock on the door. I yelled that someone was in here and he left... More

We have family that now live in Northfield and it sucks that there are very few options for hotels. We paid $150 per night :( for not even a great Country Inn. If we wanted to stay outside of Northfield or in the Cities, prices would have been way cheaper for a comparable hotel. Employees were having problems with check... More

I sincerely apologize for your stay due to it being unpleasant. We never want a guest to leave upset, which I see you did. I want you to be happy and would be happy to talk to you more about it. Please feel free to give me a call. More

Staff was terrific about checking us in. I had listed a couple preferences, such as facing the front of the property rather than the back so we wouldn't be near the train tracks that run behind the hotel. The woman checking us in was already aware and made sure we were accommodated without us having to even mention it. I've... More

Country Inn by Carlson in Northfield, Minn., is a comfortable and welcoming place to stay. It's currently undergoing some updates, so that will likely bring even more warmth and cheeriness to the place. The breakfast in the morning is tasty and offers variety. In the afternoon, there are fresh chocolate-chip cookies placed near the front desk -- a nice touch.... More

There aren't a whole lot of choices in Northfield, but this seems a solid choice -- it's clean, has modern plumbing, hot water, a TV, and a breakfast of sorts in the morning... so it does the job. Check-in was friendly and efficient, as was check-out. Fast-food options (Taco Bell, Subway, and more) are very close by, right across the... More

If you are visiting a relative at Carlton College as I was or wanting to see the site of the James brothers great Northfield raid, this is the place to stay. It is not a five star hotel by any means, but it was much more than I expected. The rooms are basic, but with the usual amenities - shampoo,... More
