Everything was great ~ the soft comfortable bed, the Jacuzzi bathtub, the wine and snacks that greeted us, the delicious breakfast. Pamela is sweet and friendly. Don't let the outside of the house fool you (it is a work in progress but still a nice-looking house). The inside is a dream. One of our best B&B experiences!

Pamela has truly mastered what it means to be a great hostess. We stayed here for New Years and it was one of the best ways to end and then begin a new year. All the extra little touches made it for a relaxing stay.

After being treated "very rudely" at another hotel in town, Pam was able to accommodate me at The Magic Door on a short notice. My daughter was spending the night at St. Olaf, so I was by myself in an unfamiliar town. When I walked in my room, I couldn't believe how cute and welcoming it was. It had a... More

My daughter and I stayed at the Magic Door to celebrate her birthday. We were very comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. Best B and B food I have ever had! Pamela offered us wine, beer, snacks, fruit and cheese. I loved the little stocked refrigerator with beverages. I booked already to go back in Sept to visit my daughter... More

and you will be delighted! Pamela does it right. Beer, wine, cheese, fruit and cookies welcome you. Some of the things we appreciated were the very comfortable beds; comfortable furniture in the room as well as the common sitting area; games, puzzles, music and movies - and a wonderful breakfast. It's apparent Pamela takes pride in her business. She has... More

Just returned from a Carleton college visit where I stayed in the Summer room at The Magic Door. Upon my April afternoon arrival in the surprise snowstorm, Pamela, the proprietor offered us a cheese tray. We instead chose to explore our room. She demonstrated how to use the fireplace, jacuzzi, cable TV, and more. She also invited us to enjoy... More

My daughter and I stayed at the Magic Door after attending the St. Olaf Christmas Concert, and we picked the perfect place to unwind, relax, and enjoy a December mother-daughter getaway. Pam welcomed us inside and brought us glasses of wine and a scrumptious cheese and fruit platter as we visited. The room was extremely comfortable and quiet--slept like a... More

We stayed at Magic Door for 4 nights and really loved the place. We were made to feel at home by Pamella and we are in regular touch with her even after we left that place. The breakfast is out of the world. The room was excellent and clean. Pamella is an excellent host and the moment we met her,... More

For someone who was looking for a peaceful evening away, I found it! Pamela greeted me with cheese, crackers and a cold beer. I spent the rainy afternoon relaxing in my comfortable room watching a movie and eating from the bowl of chocolates conveniently placed near by bedside. When the weather cleared, I walked around town, bought some groceries, and... More

This is a lovely bed and breakfast. Everything -- the fruit and cheese plate and drinks upon arrival, the beautiful decor, all the extras (many games, books, DVDs), chocolates, the fantastic breakfast, the friendly owner -- made for a most enjoyable stay. It was my husband's birthday, and he was even served cake with a candle as part of his... More
