Loved this Hotel and all it's old charm. We stayed in RM 210S which is a Suite with a sofa bed, TV, mini refrigerator, & microwave in one room, and two Queen size beds with another TV in the main room. The Bathroom looked like it was recently redone, and lovely. The room overlooked the Cannon River~beautiful view. The hotel... More

Historic The Archer House Hotel is on the main street of Northfield near both St. Olaf and Carlton Colleges. Parking is usually available in their parking lot behind the hotel or late overnight on the street in front of the hotel. Rooms vary in size and layout. There is a lift from the parking lot with luggage carts available. Desk... More

OK, first the positives. The room was immaculate. You could have eaten off the bathroom floor. There was a room air conditioner. The staff of the hotel could not have been nicer or more helpful. The Tavern, located in the hotel, served incredibly reasonably-priced drinks and food. Great location in downtown, easy walking to Carleton College. OK, now the negatives.... More

This Country Inn is located in Downtown Northfield MN and is well over 100 years old so change your expectations a little when you visit. It reminded me of the Grand Hotel in the Christopher Reeves/Jane Seynour movie classic "Somewhere In Time"!!! Don't expect spacious Suites, modern soundproofing, room service and a full course breakfast. Instead you will receive a... More

We've been here about 6 times as we have a Carleton student. The rooms are cute and clean with flat-screen TVs, the location is excellent, and the restaurants in the hotel are decent and convenient. The cozy rooms are quite small but we were ok with that. Parking seems ample. But the hotel could use some competition. There are very... More

We needed a night out of town and booked about a month in advance for Valentines Day. We stayed in room 214 at the end of the hall and heard very little of any surrounding noises. Two queen beds with too firm mattresses but otherwise very comfortable and clean room with a lovely whirlpool bath. We very much liked all... More

Charming historic hotel and very convenient for visiting Carleton College. Best part was a fabulous breakfast in the Tavern and great front desk service. Accidentally left my cell phone in the room when we left, the front desk did a great job of tracking me down before we headed to Minneapolis.

Stayed here while visiting Carleton. We stayed in room 314, which is a "large" room. Had a very comfortable Queen bed which squeaked when I climbed on it (it was high), but not at all while we were sleeping. Nice little desk at the window overlooking the main street. Full bath with shower and tub. Very clean, plenty of room... More

I really enjoyed my stay. Free wifi was pretty good. There is a gym. I took a 4th floor room and really like it. It had a bit of an attic room feel. I ate at chapati, the Indian restaurant in the lobby, had some drinks at the tavern bar and breakfast in the bittersweet cafe. I enjoyed having everything... More

Stayed here while visiting Carleton College for 2 nights. Stayed in room 300, had two double beds and a very nice size bathroom with a shower, no tub. Room was updated and very clean. Only comment I would make is that the mattresses could use replacing, they were a bit bowed and that's being picky. Staff is extremely friendly and... More
