Young man at the counter was helpful with recommendations for a dining spot featuring local brews. Non-smoking rooms adjacent to smoking rooms, halls smelled smokey. Nice beds, furniture, towels, fairly new bedspreads. Bathroom floor was not clean and there were some age-related flaws in the drywall, trim, etc. But for the price ($62.99 for two doubles), it was just fine.... More

Stayed 2 nights for the OKTOBERFEST. The hotel was a great location, and we could walk to the Holiday Inn and also to the grocery store, right next door. The rooms were clean and had what we needed. Down sides no elevator, no pool or hot tub, and not enough room in the breakfast area. I would stay there again... More

We stayed in the Econo Lodge in late July of 2013. My husband was attending a convention at Martin Luther College in New Ulm and we opted not to stay in the dorms. We arrived mid-afternoon and there were only a couple of other cars in the lot, which made me a little nervous. I wondered if we had made... More

I don't usually stay at budget chains, but a friend recommended it and we had a fairly large party (3 rooms), so we tried it. The rooms were clean and spacious, with comfortable beds with a high profile (as in, high off the floor). We expected only a continental breakfast but has a waffle maker as well as free newspapers.... More

Where to start? Perhaps with the positive. This hotel wasn't near as dirty as some I have experienced for this cost. It was relatively clean, but that's about the best that can be said for it. It is sorely in need of some updates. The furnishings there not only looked dated, but cheap. The breakfast was extremely sparse and unattended.... More

I was very unhappy with this hotel. The Microtel next door looked significantly better, although staring from the parking lot of a motel you didn’t like is hardly a test. Plus Side: Both the night staff that checked us in and the morning staff that checked us out were pleasant and helpful. If you’re going to stay in New Ulm,... More

Econo Lodge was the only hotel with rooms available when we had to make a last minute trip to New Ulm. We had to be at our first apt by 6:45am so a drive from Minneapolis that morning would have been crazy early. Was pleasantly surprised to find the Econo Lodge clean and comfortable.

We stayed on the top floor which doesn't help when you have a two year old. Upon walking in the room smelled so bad it was unbearable. Asked to move but was told we couldn't and then we were handed some air fresher that didn't help. Turned heat on high and slept with window open. The carpet was gross. You... More

We stayed here in May 2012 and the new ownership was in the process of updating or replacing all the furnishings. It is much nicer now than when it was the Super 8. The staff is friendly and was very accomodating with our group reservation. The continental breakfast was very adequate. Definitely worth staying here if you are in the... More

Nicer than I expected based on stays at a bunch of other Econolodges. Until recently this was a Super 8. The new owners have made lots of updates. My room appeared to have new paint, new carpeting, and a new bed. The hallways looked recently painted and much of the old green carpet has already been replaced with an attractive... More
