Five of us had 2 adjoining rooms, each with 2 Queen beds and a small futon. The kitchenettes had a dishwasher, 2 burner stove, microwave, & toaster, but no oven. Cable TV and Internet access (not wifi) were good. There is also a second sink in the bedroom and a partially screened porch/entryway. Ample parking is available at the end... More

We stayed one night at the Douglas Lodge Itasca Suites (a four-season six-plex room) in August 2013, for $147.49 total. We did have trouble making our reservation online, but were able to make a reservation over the phone. There was a cute screened-in porch with a table. The living room had a couch and television, the kitchen had a microwave,... More

My wife and I ate at the lodge on our visit to the headwaters of the Mississippi. The food was extremely good. We found the food in Minnesota bland at almost everywhere else we ate but not here. My wife had the Minnesota wild rice and loved it. My chicken sandwich was also good. The fresh baked bread products were... More

We were sorry to have just one night in our 'fireplace' room at the Douglas Lodge. Right on Lake Atasca and only five miles from the Mississippi headwaters this is a real peaceful break. The room was lovely and we had a covered porch. Wood supplied for the fireplace and the fire pit outside. Only downside was the little bath... More

Staying at the Lodge is a good way to see all that Itasca State Park has to offer. We found all of the park clean and well kept. It may have been the heat or the fact that it was the end of the season, we found the Lodge staff were not going out of their way to be friendly,... More

The two room suites are very nice. You enter via screened porch that has a table and 4 chairs. There are two queen beds and sink in the bedroom. The large bathroom has tub / shower. The other room is a living room (with TV) / kitchenette, with small refrigerator, microwave, cook top, dishwasher. The kitchen has dishes, pots and... More

I was traveling out west, and wanted to see the Mississippi Headwaters. I stayed for one night. The location was excellent, being within the state park. One could hike trails right outside the lodge complex. The staff was friendly and courteous. The room was small but cozy and clean. It should be noted that the bathroom was not attached, but... More

Wow. Just returned from trip to Itasca Park with family. We had a blast. Stayed in lodge on night 1, then had two in campground. Lodge was super clean, our meals there were great too. It was such a great experience all the way around. What a great get away! A must do Minnesota experience.

We stayed here for two nights, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff was nice and helpful. The rooms in the lodge do not have private baths, but even though the place was full I hardly ever ran across anybody in the hall when I needed the bathroom. There was always one free. Decent showers in the upstairs bathrooms. The peace... More

So it's a lovely setting but don't try to sit on the beautiful outdoor deck during certain time periods and eat because it seems to upset the whole karma of the restaurant. Inside the views can be very nice. Our dinner food was not gourmet but we did enjoy it. Our steak, chicken, and Alfredo sauce were all well prepared.... More
