There was a lot I liked about Lake Itasca and the lodge but if you are looking for amenities like shampoo and hair dryers and plush comfort, this is not the place. Some of the rooms do not even have private bathrooms. Luckily, one of ours did, so we left the connecting door open and made it suite-like. The rooms... More

We had a suite at the lodge. I thought we would be I the same building as the lodge, but oh no. We had our own mini apartment in the forest. Their was an enclosed porch with a table for outside seating. All the furniture inside was made of pine. There was a small kitchen area, bar seating at the... More

The sign does not reflect actual hours. The staff said "we are union and our mannager makes the call to take a half hour break" So they told us to come back because the kitchen is closed...... So call ahead so you don't interupt the staffs break!

We (two adults, two kids (7 and 11)) stayed for four nights in #73 in the six-plex Itasca Suites during spring break (end of March, beginning of April). The cabin was clean and well supplied. The beds were warm and comfortable. The cabin was thoughtfully furnished and decorated (carefully chosen framed reproductions of old photos taken in the park in... More

Note the date of stay: late March, 2015. I want to emphasize the date because it is crucial to my experience. Weather: dry, clear, cold, sunny, beautiful; Lake Itasca was quite frozen. Crowds: none; we saw only two people just leaving the headwaters of the Mississippi trail as we were starting. There were two other cars in the parking area... More

We came up here with 5 kids under ten and enough bikes to get around. Only got in the car to get laundry done at Lobos ten minutes away. Lodge was welcoming with above-average food (breadsticks were notable) and well-priced kids menu. Nice lobby room with a fire and rocking chairs. There are free fishing poles and junior-ranger type activities... More

We were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations at the Douglas Lodge. Although we backpacked and stayed in the Backcountry we only ate and had drinks at the lodge, I was surpassed at how nice it was. The dinner was very good, a little pricier then normal perhaps, but all things included it was worth it. The breakfast we had was... More

We vacation up north each summer and always spend one day at Itasca state park. We always eat lunch at the Douglas Lodge restaurant. The kids love the food. They always get malts and I always order the rhubarb strawberry pie. Service is quick and the view of the hummingbird feeders is very entertaining.

My experience was limited to the lodge's restaurant, which was pretty decent. The menu is pretty amazing, especially if you're one to try out local fare. It's expansive and diverse with harder-to-find offerings like walleye, elk burgers, bison burgers, etc along with standard Americana. I had the perch chips and walleye sandwich for lunch. The food was tasty, so no... More

My husband and I and our 8 and 10 year olds had a great weekend in the park. We stayed in the Itasca Suites - small but sufficient living room and kitchen area, roomy bed room with two queens, full bath and screen porch with table for four and room to put fishing gear. There is a TV in the... More
